We at Berkeleyside have a penchant for Twitter (follow us at berkeleyside) and appreciate the networking/sharing possibilities the micro-blogging site offers.

So we were pleased to see that Berkeley’s mayor Tom Bates jumped on the bandwagon back in April and opened up a Twitter account, which can be found at MayorTomBates (hat-tip: michellequinn).

Trouble is Mr Bates hasn’t posted anything yet — which may explain his paltry number of  followers — just 11 at last count. So we are deprived of whatever words of wisdom or apercus he may want to send our way.

What can we do, Berkeleysiders, to encourage our citizen leader to tweet?
