taco

The other day when former Gourmet editor Ruth Reichl swung through town on her way to a street food fair in Napa, she stopped in Berkeley for a scrumptious “lime-rich pork” taco.

Berkeleyside was abuzz with suggestions as to where she might have gone — Tacubaya, Gordo’s, La Cascada perhaps?

It turns out she went to a taco truck of course. (Figures, given her destination, I guess.)  Thanks to Berkeleyside tipster Hewn and Hammered, who asked the food goddess herself on Twitter, we can even tell you which one.

Responding to the ‘where did you go’ question, Reichl tweeted: “Yes! Got off the freeway and there it was! Like a gift. A taco truck shouting, “Welcome to California!”

H&H fills in the rest telling us it’s the taco truck on Ashby just east of the I-80 freeway, usually parked on the side of the road next to one of the car dealers.
