The four-day, relatively quiet student occupation of Wheeler Hall ended early this morning when police arrested 65 protesters.

University spokesman Dan Mogulof said the arrests were triggered when the occupiers announced plans to hold an all-night concert tonight. “Once the group refused to reconsider plans to hold an unauthorized all-night concert in an academic building, we had to take steps to ensure that finals could go forward. Our primary responsibility is to the campus’s core academic mission and the 35,000 students who are not participating in the protest.”

Final exams are scheduled to begin in Wheeler Hall at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
