“The kids have Gilman Street, we oldies have the Hillside Club.” So says Sylvia Paull who is helping spread the word about The Hillside Hop, a must for people who like to dance with friends to the kind of rock they couldn’t get enough of in the 50s, 60,s 70s and 80s.
Hosted by Joan Blades — co-founder of MoveOn.org, Berkeley Systems and MomsRising.org — the informal dance party to which all are welcome (from kids to oldies and everyone in between), takes place on January 16, 7:30-10:00pm at the Hillside Club. Bring your dancing shoes and your favorite libation or nibble to share with others. Also, if you’d like to share your dance music, bring a CD or iPod and the resident DJ, Kathy Ketman, will include it on the playlist.
Paull reports that there will be a multigenerational selection of music, “so if you were born and brought up anytime during the past century, you’ll find something familiar”. No need to RSVP, and guests are welcome.
