Next Monday night there’s an opportunity both to learn about the Downtown Area Plan controversy and to weigh in on the future of our Downtown. Join Council members Laurie Capitelli and Jesse Arreguin for a panel discussion on Berkeley’s Downtown Area Plan.
The panel will be moderated by Gary Binger, Co-Director of the Center for a Sustainable California. Other panelists include Tim Frank, environmental consultant, Joel Ramos of TransForm and Patty Dacey of the Downtown Area Plan Advisory Committee.
What are your views on the Downtown? How can this plan help make our hopes and expectations a reality? How do we make the Downtown the “heart of the city” where people want to spend their free time with family and friends? How can we make Downtown Berkeley an attractive place to live, shop and hang out?
This past August, petition gatherers were able to put on hold the results of four years of community planning. This event will be an important point in the dialogue leading up to March when the City Council decides which direction to take with the Downtown Area Plan and the future of our Downtown.
Come join the discussion. It’s your Downtown! How can we make it better?
Downtown Area Plan Public Forum: January 25, Aurora Theatre, 2081 Addison Street. Exhibits at 6:30 p.m., discussion begins at 7:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Downtown Berkeley Association and Architects, Designers and Planners for Social Responsibility.
Erin Rhoades is Executive Director of Livable Berkeley
