While we miss Downtown, the restaurant that served us well when taking in a show at the Aurora or a set at Freight & Salvage, its forlorn facade was getting us down. The restaurant closed down last summer and plans to refurbish and reopen never materialized.
So we’re pleased to hear that the space is getting a new tenant. The Chronicle reports that Amy Murray, chef and co-owner of nearby Venus, also on Shattuck, is taking over the space and calling it Revival Bar and Kitchen.
Murray says Revival will be a bistro that specializes in using local and seasonal ingredients, “whole” animals and artisanal cocktails (now, where have we heard that before?).
Look for an opening in May.
