Berkeley police have arrested three Richmond men they believe are responsible for the string of armed robberies that have made residents wary of walking at night.

Harvey B. Coulter, Jr.,  Adam A. Doty, and Rashad A. Bailey were arrested April 19 after allegedly robbing three separate people by handgun on the south side of the campus within a 50-minute period.

An alert UC Berkeley police officer who had been monitoring the Berkeley police radio spotted a car that fit the description of the suspects’. He stopped the car on Ellsworth near Dwight. Evidence in the car led to the men’s arrest.

These men are also suspected of a series of hold ups in north Berkeley on April 6, according to Officer Jamie Perkins, a spokesperson for the Berkeley Police Department. All together, the suspects may have committed eight armed robberies in Berkeley during the past few weeks.
