Wilderness Exchange, a factory outlet for outdoor gear, is going out of business after 23 years.
The store at 1407 San Pablo Avenue near Gilman specializes in low-cost climbing, hiking, backpacking, nordic skiing and camping equipment.
It is also popular for its twice-yearly gear swaps. In the fall, people swap and sell ski gear, and in the spring they sell camping and other gear.

Jerry Jordan, the owner, is retiring, according to Chris Frisz, a floor sales manager. He recently sold the building, which will be turned into a restaurant.
The store will close on July 18. It is hosting a daily clearance sale from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm.
