The UC Berkeley Police is reporting two recent robberies on Wednesday this week after 11.00pm, one involving a gun. In both cases the Berkeley Police Department arrested positively identified suspects.

On Wednesday at approximately 11.17pm a strong arm robbery took place on the 2300 block of Telegraph. The male victim was standing in front of Larry Blakes with friends. The victim dropped his smart phone and an unknown male picked it up. The victim asked for his phone back. The suspect started to swear at the victim and hit him in the body. The suspect handed the phone to an accomplice on a bicycle. The suspect then punched the victim in the mouth and his accomplice punched the victim in the eye.

The suspects fled the scene but were detained by BPD a short time later in the general area. They were positively identified by the victim and arrested. The victim suffered minor injuries during the encounter.

On the same night, at approximately 11.50pm,  a male and female couple were were sitting in a car parked on the 2400 block of Prospect when they were approached by two males. One male approached the female passenger’s side and the other approached the male driver’s side. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the driver and demanded the victims’ property. The victims complied.

The suspect ordered the male victim at gunpoint to get out of the car and enter a nearby residence where the suspect robbed another victim of various items. The robbery suspects then fled the area in a dark older model 4-door sedan missing the hub caps driving northbound on Prospect. A BPD officer stopped a car matching the description of the suspects’ vehicle. The two suspects and an accomplice were positively identified by the victims and taken into custody. The victims were not injured during the encounter.
