As Berkeleyside has grown, it seems we’re exceeding the boundaries of our current technical infrastructure. I guess it happens when you serve over 100,000 pageviews a month and have 32,000 unique visitors a month (tooting our horn).

To remedy the problem, we’re going to do some routine maintenance on our server tonight from 7 p.m. Some readers might experience some downtime, but we expect to be completely up and running — with blazing, new response times — within a few hours at worst.

Berkeleysider and local web publishing maven Scott Rosenberg recently noted that “endless tech problems” come with the territory in online media. That’s reassuring.
