In the generally good-natured scrum of Halloween on Russell Street in the Elmwood, one father and his baby — temporarily and probably unknowingly a chick — stood out for costume originality and cuteness.

Other notable highlights were a jaw-dropping puppet/music show at the east end of Russell (it must have been automated — anyone know how this worked?) and the circus, complete with big top, on the corner of Russell and Kelsey. Elmwood dwellers hear that Mariposa in North Berkeley is as grand. Can that possibly be true?
