Malik Grayson at a football game in junior high

There will be a funeral on Friday, Nov. 19 for Larry Malik Grayson, the Berkeley High freshman who died after being shot in the head by a friend on Oct. 26.

The services will be held at 11 am at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church at 408 West MacArthur Blvd near Shafter Street in Oakland.

Grayson was at an apartment in the 1500 block of Alcatraz Avenue when his friend, a 17-year old junior at Berkeley high, shot him. Grayson died on Nov. 4 after being on life support for a number of days.

Details about the shooting are unclear. Berkeley police arrested the 17-year old on suspicion of attempted murder (this was before Malik died) but the Alameda County District Attorney’s office has not filed charges.

The services for Malik Grayson, the student who passed away recently, have been scheduled and the family has allowed us to announce them publicly.
