The UC Police and the BPD report two robberies that took place this week, both on Wednesday December 8, on the south side near campus. One was a strong-arm robbery, the other an attempted robbery.
At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday a woman was on Channing Way just east of Fulton Street when she was approached by a group of male teens. One of the teens grabbed her cell phone and the group fled the scene running eastbound on Channing Way then southbound on Atherton Street. BPD detained three males matching the description of the suspects on the 2400 block of Dwight Way. They were positively identified by the victim and her property was found on one of the suspects. The victim was not injured during the encounter.
At 5:26 p.m. BPD received a report of a related attempted robbery on the 2200 block of Durant Avenue near Fulton Street. The victim was walking on Durant when he was approached by a group of male teens. The suspects pushed the victim to the ground and punched him in the face. The suspects punched and kicked the victim on the ground and one of them demanded his wallet. The group then fled the scene without the wallet. The three were arrested on the 2400 block of Dwight Way were positively identified by the victim. The victim sustained minor injuries to his face, lower and upper back and the palms of his hands.
