The Berkeley Police Department reports that it has made nine arrests of suspects citywide in recent days and one of the nine people arrested — who was involved in a robbery as recently as last week — has been charged with multiple counts of robbery and attempted robbery.
“We do believe this person is connected to our North Berkeley robbery series,” said BPD spokesperson Sgt. Mary Kusmiss.
In a press release, the BPD states that the arrests followed a departmental focus that included crime analysis, increased communication and the use of additional BPD personnel to concentrate patrol in several areas of the city that were identified as locations where robberies have taken place.
The nine arrests were for crimes that occurred throughout the city. Read more on recent robberies in Berkeley.
