Tim Moellering, who died on Tuesday last week.

A memorial service for Tim Moellering, Berkeley High School’s highly regarded history teacher and baseball coach who died last week, will be held on Saturday January 29 at the Willard Middle School Auditorium at 2425 Stuart Street.

A reception will take place on the same day at 6pm at the California Alumni House (East of Haas Pavilion, north of Zellerbach Hall).

Donations in honor of Moellering (in lieu of flowers) can be made to one of two causes: either “First Step”, BHS’s Counselors’ Scholarship Fund via the BHS Development Group (be sure to write “First Step Counselors’ Scholarship Fund” on checks and attach a note saying the donation is in honor of Tim Moellering). Or to the Berkeley Free Clinic — for donation information visit the clinic’s website.

Berkeleyside readers have been discussing the possiblity of naming a baseball field after Moellering – either at Willard, where Moellering taught for 19 years, or at a new field which is planned for Derby Street. Tributes to Moellering can be read on his Facebook page.
