A construction crew working at 70 Oak Ridge Road in the Claremont neighborhood accidentally nicked a gas pipe causing a leak this morning at about 9:00am. PG&E were called out and were repairing the pipe at around 9:30am. The owner of the house in question said they would be turning off the main gas line on El Camino Real. The smell of gas pervaded the area. The Berkeley Fire Department sent an engine out as a preventative measure in case of a potential explosion.
