Berkeley High students on Best Buddies walk-a-thon

About 15 Berkeley High students joined dozens of other students at Crissy Field on Saturday to raise money for Best Buddies, an international group that encourages one on one friendships between people with and without disabilities.

Every Tuesday, Berkeley High students who have physical and mental disabilities meet to have lunch with other Berkeley High students. They talk, socialize, play games, and make friends with people who are very different from themselves.

There are 1,500 Best Buddies groups around the world in middle schools, high schools, and colleges. The Northern California groups held a walk-a-thon Saturday and raised $20,000 for the organization. The Berkeley High Best Buddies group brought in about $1,000.
