Chelsea Handler, the comedienne whose books are so popular that she received her own imprint, will be signing her latest tome at Books Inc on Fourth Street at 4 pm Sunday May 15.
Handler’s fourth book (the other three immediately shot to the top of the New York Times’ bestseller list) is called Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me. It is ostensibly written by Handler’s friends, family, and co-workers “who are happy to write a new book for Chelsea to promote since she’s feeling too lazy to write one herself,” according to Amazon.
Fans who want to meet Chandler had better get to Books Inc early. At her appearance at a bookstore in Wellesley, Massachusetts on Tuesday, the line to meet her snaked through the bookstore, out the door, and all the way down the block, according to the Wellesly Patch website.
It is also the day of the Jazz on Fourth festival on Fourth Street, so parking may be tricky.
Handler will only sign books purchased at Books Inc.
Handler, 35, rose to superstardom as the the star of the E! Television show “Chelsea Lately”. Handler grew up in Livingston N.J., the daughter of a Mormon mother and Jewish father. She moved to Los Angeles at 19 to try to be an actress. She decided to be a comedienne after she prompted gales of laughter when she told a story about her DUI arrest to her traffic school class.
Just this week, Handler revealed that she is dating Andres Balazs, the hotelier who once dated Uma Thurman.
Handler will be performing at the Paramount Theater in Oakland at 8 pm on Sunday.
