Update 2:55 p.m. According to the Berkeley police, a woman was approached in downtown Berkeley and asked whether she wanted to make “some quick money”. She entered a car and was driven to the Wells Fargo in the Elmwood where she was apparently going to cash two checks. She entered the bank to establish her identity as a Wells Fargo customer, but there she asked the bank staff to call the police. The police arrived at the bank and arrested three suspects. The case is being investigated as a suspected fraud.

Several police cars were on the scene today at around 1:15 p.m at the Wells Fargo Bank on College and Ashby. At least three people, two men and a woman, were handcuffed and sitting on the curb under police supervision in the parking lot to the rear of the bank.
