Last week an estimated 350 people turned out to enjoy a free screening of Up, the second in the series of four free outdoor movie screenings on Center Street in downtown Berkeley.
Saturday sees Raiders of the Lost Ark which will be shown on the wall of the future Berkeley Art Museum in the Bank of America car park.
The Summer Cinema series, organized by the Downtown Berkeley Association, sees Center Street closed to traffic. Before the main feature starts, at around 8:30pm, moviegoers are encouraged to eat al fresco, enjoy musical entertainment — from Howard Barkan on Latin Jazz Guitar and the UCA Capoeira — and enter a costume contest at 7:30 p.m. Safari attire is suggested for Raiders, but creative interpretation is encouraged.
Chairs are available for rent on Center Street, or you can bring your own. Warm clothes and a blanket or two might be a good idea. Special popcorn and snacks prepared by Five Restaurant is also available on the parking lot.
Berkeleyside is the media sponsor of the Center Street Summer Cinema. For full information visit this website.
