Berkeleyside's Events Calendar launches on September 1, but organizations are encouraged to submit their events now

On September 1, Berkeleyside will launch the Berkeleyside Events Calendar. The calendar will, we hope, build to become a wide-ranging, comprehensive one-stop-shop for our readers to find out what’s happening where and when in Berkeley and the surrounding area — be it concerts, theater, classes, community gatherings, or fundraisers.

If this move is overdue, it’s because we have been on the hunt for excellent calendar software — we road-tested a few while we searched for something robust, flexible and easy on the eye. We finally found it in a platform called Helios whose multi-functionality allows readers to look for events in a number of ways. One can see what’s happening around town on a particular day, or across a month; one can search by keyword or by most popular event.

The calendar is self-serve. Organizations and individuals submit their events to the calendar themselves and we routinely approve them. The process is simple, requires a quick registration, after which you can submit as many events as you like. We encourage you to begin now by visiting the Berkeleyside Calendar and clicking “submit event”.
