Tuesday’s City Council meeting proved to be particularly heated. Opponents of the sit-lie ordinance filled the council chamber and their singing led Mayor Tom Bates to call for a vote without further discussion. It’s heartening to have good news to report from Telegraph Avenue. Off the Grid, the weekly food truck fiesta, opened its new Telegraph location on Thursday night, and were rewarded with happy crowds sampling the delicious wares.

The London Olympic Games will have a host of Cal Bears, competing for a number of different national teams. But behind the scenes, Cal’s Cindy Chang has the crucial role of chief medical officer for Team USA, leading a roster of 80 medical professionals.

The week ended on a sad note with the death of a cyclist injured in an accident at Bancroft and Fulton on Friday afternoon.
