
This is a partial list of recent crimes in Berkeley based on information from the Berkeley Police Department and the UC Berkeley Police Department. The calls for service spreadsheet is available on Google Docs. (Please note that these are Calls For Police Services only and are subject to review and reclassification. These CFS numbers only reflect part one crimes reported to BPD.)
The numbers reflected in the report are only a snapshot of what occurs in the City of Berkeley. The numbers are considered for informational purposes only and should not be used for data analysis or comparison to other agencies. Cases may be reclassified after further review of the incident, by supervisors, investigating detectives or the District Attorney as appropriate.

Sunday, September 16
Loud Party, 3000 Block of Fulton Street
On Sunday, September 16, at approximately 7:03 p.m., a citizen called reporting a loud party in the 3000 block of Fulton Street. An officer arrived at the location and contacted the resident. The resident agreed to turn down the music.
Auto Burglary, 100 Block of Seawall Drive
On Sunday, September 16 between 5:00 p.m. and 6:43 p.m., an auto burglary occurred in the 100 block of Seawall Drive. The victim parked and locked his vehicle. When he returned to his vehicle he discovered a window broken. The unknown suspect stole the victim’s briefcase and laptop.
Monday, September 17
Disturbance, 1400 Block of University Avenue
On Monday, September 17 at approximately 8:16 a.m., an employee called BPD to report a person creating a disturbance in the 1400 block of University Avenue. The subject was yelling at customers as they waited in line. A BPD officer was dispatched to the location. The officer contacted the employee who informed them the subject was gone. An area check was negative and the employee was advised to call BPD if the subject returned.
Robbery, 2400 Block of Virginia Street
On Monday, September 17 at approximately 7:16 p.m., a robbery occurred in the 2400 block of Virginia Street. The male victim was walking in the area when he was approached by two unknown suspects. One suspect was armed with a gun. The suspects took the victim’s wallet and cell phone.
The suspects are described as: Suspect 1 – “Black male adult, 18-20 years old, 5’8”-5’10” tall, 130 lbs wearing a black quilted puffy jacket armed with a black gun.” Suspect 2 – No Details.
Tuesday, September 18
Suspicious Vehicle, 1300 Block of Nielson Street
On Tuesday, September 18 at approximately 9:58 p.m. a resident reported a suspicious vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Nielson Street. An officer arrived at the location and contacted a subject sitting in a vehicle similar to the one the resident described. After contacting the driver, the officer determined it proved okay, the subject was listening to the end of the S.F. Giants baseball game.
Residential Burglary, 1000 Block of Creston Road
On Tuesday, September 18 at 11:06 a.m. a construction manager reported a residence they are working on burglarized in the 1000 block of Creston Road. An unknown suspect forced entry into a storage room and stole tools and equipment belonging to the construction company.
Wednesday, September 19
Parking Violation, Fulton Street/Prince Street
On Wednesday, September 19 at approximately 8:15 a.m., BPD received a call from a construction company doing work in the area of Fulton and Prince Streets. A vehicle was parked in the posted temporary tow away zone. The officer arrived at the location and had the owner move their vehicle.
Auto Burglary, 1100 Block of Russell Street
On Wednesday, September 19 at 3:52 p.m. a citizen reported his vehicle broken into in the 1100 block of Russell Street. It is unknown how the suspect entered the vehicle. The suspect stole miscellaneous change and the victim’s disabled placard.
Thursday, September 20
Suspicious Circumstances, 1500 Block of McGee Street
On Thursday, September 20 at approximately 3:29 a.m., a citizen reported hearing a car alarm go off in the 1500 block of McGee Street. The resident was concerned that someone’s vehicle may have been broken into. An officer was dispatched to the area and could not find the source of the alarm or any damaged vehicles.
Theft, 1600 block of Grant Street
On Thursday, September 20 at 12:18 p.m., the victim called BPD reporting the theft of a catalytic convertor from their vehicle. The victim parked the vehicle the night before on the street in the 1600 block of Grant Street. The next morning the victim discovered the part missing from their vehicle. The suspect is unknown.
Friday, September 21
Welfare Check, Prince Street/Telegraph Avenue
On Friday, September 21 at approximately 9:40 a.m., a citizen called requesting a welfare check on a subject who was laying in the gutter near the intersection of Prince Street and Telegraph Avenue. The caller reported that there was as subject in the gutter who appeared to be injured. An officer arrived and located the subject. The officer determined it was a medical problem only and the Berkeley Fire Department attended to the subject.
Robbery, Shattuck Avenue/Kittredge Street
On Friday, September 21 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a robbery occurred in the area of Shattuck Avenue and Kittredge Street. The victim reported walking in the area when he was approached by the three unknown suspects. One of the suspects struck the victim with an unknown object, knocking him unconscious. When the victim woke up, he discovered his wallet missing. The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspects were described as: Suspects – “2 Black Males and 1 White Male,” no further details.
Saturday, September 22
Loud Reports, 3400 block of California Street
On Saturday, September 22 at approximately 3:02 a.m., a citizen reported hearing possible gunshots from the 3400 block of California Street. Officers were dispatched to the location and did not locate the source of the loud reports. No damage or victims were discovered. Officers checked with a neighboring agency and they did not receive any loud report calls for service.
Vandalism, 2700 Block of Haste Street
On Saturday, September 22 between 12:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., an unknown suspect vandalized the inside of an apartment building stairwell in the 2700 block of Haste Street. The unknown suspect appeared to use black spray paint, spraying several areas in the building.
