
Halloween is just over a week away and our friends at 510 Families have compiled a hugely useful guide to Halloween activities for kids in the broader East Bay. They kindly let us cherry pick those happening in Berkeley for your delectation.
MLK Middle School Pumpkin Patch Dash: Track races for all grades K-8th, plus carnival with games, prizes, and face painting. Sunday, October 28, 9.30 – 12.30. $5 per child who participates. See City of Berkeley website for race times for each age group.
James Kenney Harvest Festival: Wednesday, Halloween Day 3:30–5:30pm. Free carnival games, costume contest, costume parade, arts and crafts, and light refreshments.
Live Oak Park Rec Center Halloween Party: Wednesday, Halloween Day at 3 pm. Free event includes costume contest with prizes, Halloween parade and games. Refreshments will be served.
Frances Albrier Halloween Community Parade: Wednesday, Halloween Day at 4.30 pm at San Pablo Park.

Solano Avenue Trick or Treating with Costume Contest: Halloween Day, children can trick or treat at the businesses from 3-5. At 5 pm, a costume contest will be held at the empty lot at 1245 Solano (technically in Albany).
Berkeley’s Fourth Street Trick-or-Treating: The merchants will be welcoming trick or treaters from 2 to 5 pm on Halloween Day. Live music, face painting, scary hair styling and a photo booth will be on hand.
Haunted House & Carnival at UCB Student Co-op: This free event is hosted by a UC Berkeley student cooperative. Starting at 6 PM on Halloween night, the carnival will begin with face-painting, arts and crafts, story-telling, and kid-friendly music. At 7 PM the haunted house, recommended for middle-schoolers and older, will open its doors. Located at 1730 La Loma Ave, Berkeley (two blocks from the north side of campus).
Pumpkin pile at Monterey Market: Children are welcome to climb on top of the mountain of pumpkins that appears every year in the outdoor produce section of North Berkeley’s Monterey Market.
Habitot Children’s Museum’s Not-Too-Spooky Halloween: On Wednesday Oct. 31, from 9:30am – 12:20pm. Play miniature golf in the garden graveyard, create masks and wands and fly paper ghosts in the Wind Tunnel. Halloween stories will be told in the Witch’s Tent throughout the day. $9 per person.
