
This is a partial list of recent crimes in Berkeley based on information from the Berkeley Police Department and the UC Berkeley Police Department.
The calls for service spreadsheet is available on Google Docs. (Please note that the numbers reflected in the report are only a snapshot of what occurs in the City of Berkeley. The numbers are considered for informational purposes only and should not be used for data analysis or comparison to other agencies. Cases may be reclassified after further review of the incident, by supervisors, investigating detectives or the District Attorney as appropriate.)

November 4:
Auto Burglary, 2000 Lincoln Street
On Sunday, November 4, 2012 between 2:00 p.m. and 2:42 p.m., an auto burglary occurred in the 2000 block of Lincoln Street. The victim parked and locked her vehicle. When she returned she found that an unknown suspect had broken one of the vehicle’s windows. The suspect stole the victim’s bag containing a laptop and other items.
November 5:
Loud Reports, Allston Way/Bonar Street
On Monday, November 5, 2012 at approximately 6:07 p.m., a resident called BPD and reported hearing possible gunshots in the area of Allston Way and Bonar Street. Officers checked the area; they did not locate damaged property or victims. They spoke to people in the park who indicated it sounded like construction work.
November 6:
Stolen Vehicle, 2900 Block of Regent Street
On Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 1:54 p.m., the victim reported his vehicle stolen from the 2900 block of Regent Street. The victim parked his vehicle on Nov. 4th. When he went to drive his vehicle on the 6th he discovered it missing. Taken was 1994, Honda, Civic, four door, silver in color. On November 8, 2012 the vehicle was located by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
November 7:
Residential Burglary, 1000 Block of Keith Avenue
On Wednesday, November 7, 2012 between 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 1000 block of Keith Avenue. The victim returned home and discovered an unknown suspect had gained entry to his home. It appears the suspect may have entered through a window. The suspect stole US currency from the home.
Strong arm robbery, Haste Street at Piedmont Avenue, #12-61849
On Wednesday, November 7th, at 5:15 p.m., a strong-arm robbery occurred near the intersection of Haste Street and Piedmont Avenue. The male victim was walking when he was approached from behind by the suspect. The suspect forcibly grabbed the victim’s cellular phone and got into a waiting vehicle. The suspect vehicle is described as a green, 2000-2006, Chevy Malibu; it was last seen northbound on Piedmont Avenue. The victim was not injured during the encounter. BPD searched the area but was unable to locate the suspects. The suspect was described as: A Black male, in his mid-20’s, approximately 5’-10” tall, 150-pounds, skinny build, short buzz-cut hair style, wearing a black t-shirt containing a multi-colored logo and unknown colored baggy jeans.
November 8:
Bicycle Theft, 1100 Block of Addison Street
On Thursday, November 8, 2012 between 2:00 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. a theft occurred in the 1100 block of Addison Street. The victim reported that an unknown suspect entered her yard and stole her bicycle.
Arrest made in double robbery case, #8463885
Timothy Woodard, 31, was arrested and charged with two robberies committed in Berkeley on Nov. 8. BPD Detectives are currently following up on investigative leads regarding additional cases. They are attempting to determine if there may be a link between the arrested man and other cases.
November 9:
Vandalism, 2900 Block of Shattuck Avenue
On Friday, November 9, 2012 at approximately 11:15 a.m., vandalism occurred in the 2900 block of Shattuck Avenue. An employee at a local business reported the front window was broken by an unknown suspect. The suspect was standing in front of the business and for an unknown reason hit the window with his fist, causing the glass to break. The suspect then left the area. The suspect is described as: “White Male Adult, 45-50 years old, 5’10” tall, 200 lbs, shoulder length brown hair wearing all brown clothing.”
November 10:
Robbery, Prince Street/California Street
On Saturday, November 10, 2012 at approximately 7:22 p.m., a robbery occurred near the intersection of California and Prince Streets. The female victim was walking in the area when she passed the unknown suspects. One of the suspects produced a gun and demanded the victim’s cell phone. A second suspect took the victim’s bag. The suspects then ran west of Prince Street. The suspects are described as: Suspect 1 – “Black Male, 19-21 years old, 5’11” tall, thin build, dark complexion wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.” Suspect 2 – “Black Male, 19-21 years old, 6’ tall, thin build wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.” Suspect 3 – “Black Male, 19-21 years old, tall.”

- Never leave a house key “hidden” outside your front door.
