
Berkeley police are seeking community help to catch a burglar.
The suspect depicted in the photos above is believed by police to be responsible for two burglaries and one attempted burglary in Berkeley, along with other burglaries in neighboring cities. The suspect gains entry by smashing a window, then enters and steals cigarettes. According to police, the suspect is in and out of a store “in a very short amount of time.”
The suspect is described as an African American male, 25-35 years old, pierced ears wearing an olive green baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
The Berkeley Police Department asks anyone with information about the burglaries or the suspect’s identity to call the Crimes Against Property Unit at 510-981-5737, or the nonemergency line at 510-981-5900. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can phone Bay Area Crimes Stoppers (BACS) at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
