Tree on Ashby

A large branch which fell onto Ashby Avenue just outside Whole Foods Market earlier today took down a power line and closed the busy road.

The branch fell at around 12:45 p.m. The Berkeley Fire Department arrived on the scene rapidly and closed Ashby to deal both with the tree and the power line. When Berkeleyside’s Tracey Taylor took the photograph above, Ashby was closed between Shattuck and Telegraph.

There were no injuries reported.

Update, 2:30pm: Ashby is now clear and traffic is flowing freely.
