
This is a partial list of recent crimes in Berkeley based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department, unless otherwise noted. See past crime blotters here. (Note to readers: We’re trying out a new format, and will be experimenting in the coming weeks to provide more information about crime in Berkeley, so please provide feedback in the comments section if you notice anything new or have ideas for more coverage.)

The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times appear to be approximate. From Jan. 12-18, there were 10 burglary reports, 23 auto break-in or theft from a vehicle reports, and six stolen vehicle reports to the Berkeley Police Department, according to CrimeMapping.com. Eight robberies and 10 assaults were reported. These numbers are subject to change. Click the previous links for the most current information.
Jan. 12, Saturday
Two vehicles were reported stolen at 7 a.m., in the 2000 block of Center Street and in the 2200 block of Eighth Street.
There were five thefts from a vehicle or auto burglaries around town throughout the day.
A grand theft was reported in the 1800 block of Solano Avenue at about 1 p.m.
Someone was reported to be driving under the influence at University Avenue and Sixth Street at about 2:20 p.m.
Jan. 13, Sunday

Two grand thefts and three misdemeanor thefts were reported throughout the day.
Thieves burglarized a vehicle in the 2000 block of Fourth Street, as reported at 11 a.m., and in the 1800 block of Sonoma Avenue, reported at 6:30 p.m.
A home in the 1000 block of Delaware Street was burglarized; the incident was reported at 2:35 p.m. A home burglary also took place in the 1500 block of Blake Street; it was discovered at 6 p.m.
Jan. 14, Monday
Four home burglaries were reported: in the 1700 block of Oxford Street at 7:21 a.m.; in the 600 block of Colusa Avenue at 10:30 a.m.; in the 1400 block of Le Roy Avenue at 11:39 a.m.; and in the 1500 block of Tyler Street at 1:39 p.m.
A vehicle was reported stolen just before 9 a.m. from Fifth Street and Hearst Avenue.
The University of California Police Department responded to a report of a burglary from North Gate Hall, at Euclid and Hearst avenues, at 11:12 a.m.
Eight vehicles were burglarized throughout the day.
Three misdemeanor assault or battery incidents were reported throughout the day: in the 2200 block of Shattuck Avenue at 4 p.m.; in the 1900 block of Allston Way at 4:04 p.m.; and in the 2400 block of Ashby Avenue at about 11 p.m.
A commercial burglary was reported at about 8 p.m. in the 2000 block of Oregon Street.
Two robberies were reported, at Allston Way and San Pablo Avenue at 8:16 p.m., and in the 800 block of University Avenue at 11:08 p.m.

Jan. 15, Tuesday
There were two burglaries from vehicles, at Le Conte and Euclid avenues at 1:51 p.m., and in the 2400 block of Grant Street at 6 p.m.
Two home burglaries were reported, at 10:25 a.m. in the 600 block of Neilson Street, and at 4:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Blake Street.
Three vehicles were reported stolen: in the 600 block of San Fernando Avenue at 8:20 a.m.; in the 1500 block of Juanita Way at 1 p.m.; and at Bay and Potter streets at 4 p.m.
Jan. 16, Wednesday
Four burglaries from vehicles took place: in the 1400 block of Olympus Avenue at 3:30 a.m.; in the 1300 block of San Pablo at 1 p.m.; in the 700 block of Allston Way at 1:35 p.m.; and at Hearst and Fourth at 7:30 p.m. A theft from a vehicle also was reported at 5 p.m. in the 1500 block of Lincoln Street.
Four robberies were reported throughout the day: at 10 a.m. at Bancroft Way and McGee Avenue; at 6:30 p.m. at Blake and California streets; at 7 p.m. in the 1100 block of Channing Way; and at 9:34 p.m. at San Pablo and University avenues.
Jan. 17, Thursday
A thief stole something from a vehicle in the 600 block of Cedar Street at 10:50 a.m.
A robbery was reported at Sacramento and Virginia streets at 6 p.m.
Jan. 18, Friday
Police responded to a call involving narcotics in the 2400 block of Durant at 1:50 a.m.
A commercial burglary took place at 4:02 a.m. in the 2000 block of Durant Avenue.
