This is a partial list of recent crimes in Berkeley, compiled by Berkeleyside, and based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department unless otherwise noted. See past crime blotters here. The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times may be approximate. From Feb. 21-27, there were 13 burglary reports, 30 auto break-in or theft from a vehicle reports, and 12 stolen vehicle reports to the Berkeley Police Department, according to CrimeMapping.com. Five robberies and 12 assaults, domestic violence incidents or batteries were reported. These numbers are subject to change. Click the previous links for the most current information.
Feb. 21, Thursday
Four auto burglaries were reported: at 9:40 a.m. in the 2700 block of College Avenue; at 10:25 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Bolivar Drive; and at 10 p.m. at Berkeley Way and Shattuck Avenue.
A home burglary was reported at 12:45 p.m. in the 2600 block of Warring Street.
Feb. 22, Friday
Six auto burglaries or thefts from a vehicle were reported: at midnight in the 1800 block of Oregon Street; at noon in the 1800 block of Spruce Street; at 5:30 p.m. at Durant Avenue and Dana Street; at 7 p.m. in the 1200 block of University Avenue and in the 2000 block of Hearst Avenue; and at 10 p.m. in the 1700 block of Spruce Street.
A home burglary was reported at 11:26 a.m. in the 1500 block of Francisco Street.
Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 3 p.m. from the 800 block of Heinz Avenue and at 6 p.m. from the 2900 block of Ellis Street.
A felony theft (over $950) was reported at 7:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Euclid Avenue.
Feb. 23, Saturday
Two home burglaries were reported, at 2 a.m. in the 2200 block of Dwight Avenue, and at 4 p.m. in the 1300 block of Harmon Street.
Six auto burglaries or thefts from vehicles were reported, at 10:40 a.m. in the 1300 block of San Pablo Avenue; at noon in the 1600 block of Julia Street; at 5 p.m. in the 1300 block of Sixth Street; at 5:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of San Pablo Avenue; at 6 p.m. at Channing Way and Telegraph Avenue; and at 6:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Russell Street.
Two felony thefts were reported, at 10 a.m. in the 1000 block of Heinz Avenue and at 11 p.m. in the 2700 block of Ridge Road.
A robbery was reported at 9:58 p.m. in the 2100 block of Allston Way.
Feb. 24, Sunday
Six auto burglaries or thefts from vehicles were reported: at 5 a.m. in the 2500 block of Milvia Street; at 5 p.m. in the 1000 block of Oxford Street; at 6 p.m. in the 1000 block of Keith Avenue; at 6:10 p.m. in the 2700 block of Prince Street; at 6:40 p.m. at Ellsworth and Blake streets; and at 9 p.m. in the 1000 block of Oxford Street.
A home burglary was reported at 10:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Keith.
A commercial burglary was reported at 6 p.m. in the 2000 block of Francisco.
A vehicle was reported stolen from the 2400 block of Edwards Street at 7 p.m.
Feb. 25, Monday
A home burglary was reported at 2 p.m. in the 3000 block of Adeline Street.
Two robberies were reported, at 3:30 p.m. at Ellsworth Street and Channing Way, and at 8 p.m. at Dwight Way and Piedmont Avenue. According to a notice from the University of California Police Department, a 20-year-old man was walking at Dwight and Piedmont at about 8 p.m. when two men with a gun approached him and demanded his property. They took the victim’s cell phone and fled on foot westbound on Dwight. The suspects were described as a Hispanic male, about 25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a red knit cap and dark baggy clothing. The other man was described as a black 25-year-old, 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark clothing.
A theft from a vehicle was reported at 4:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Heinz, and an auto burglary was reported at 5 p.m. at Addison and 10th streets.
Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 7 p.m. in the 2900 block of Russell Street, and at 8 p.m. in the 2300 block of Warring Street.
Feb. 26, Tuesday
Three home burglaries were reported, at 12:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Prospect Street, at 1 p.m. in the 2300 block of Dwight Way, and at 1:40 p.m. in the 2200 block of California Street.
Two auto burglaries were reported, at 9:10 a.m. in the 2800 block of Ninth Street, and at 11 a.m. at California and Russell streets.
Four vehicles were reported stolen, at 11:57 a.m. from the 1600 block of Alcatraz Avenue, at noon from the 1100 block of Keith, at 4 p.m. from the 2400 block of Warring Street, and at 9 p.m. from the 2300 block of Haste Street.
Two robberies were reported, at 5:35 p.m. in the 1800 block of University Avenue, and at 5:50 p.m. in the 1500 block of Shattuck Avenue.
Feb. 27, Wednesday
Three home burglaries were reported: at 6:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Channing Way; at 8:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Sacramento Street; and at 10 a.m. in the 2300 block of Russell.
A felony theft (over $950) was reported at 2:21 p.m. at Sacramento and Channing.
Three vehicles were reported stolen, at 3:30 p.m. from the 1100 block of Walnut Street, at 4 p.m. at Russell and College Avenue, and at 11 p.m. at Browning Street and Dwight.
Three thefts from vehicles were reported, at 6 p.m. in the 700 block of Jones Street, at 6:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Dohr Street and at 8 p.m. in the 1400 block of 10th Street. An auto burglary was reported at 9 p.m. in the 2100 block of Oxford Street.
