Two women were robbed, one at gunpoint, in separate incidents near the UC Berkeley campus Sunday. No one has been arrested, but police released suspect descriptions from both incidents on Monday.
At 1:58 a.m., a 20-year-old woman was walking in the 2500 block of Hillegass near Dwight Way when she heard footsteps behind her.
“She heard a voice say ‘Don’t move,’” said police in a written statement released by the University of California Police Department. “The victim turned around and suspect #1 grabbed her by the neck.”
Two other people took the woman’s property, including a laptop and an iPhone. She screamed and they pushed her to the ground, police said, resulting in minor injuries.
The trio fled northbound on Hillegass toward Dwight. Police searched the area but were unable to find them.
Police said the suspects included one woman and two men, all of whom were described as black and in their 20s. The woman had a light complexion and was wearing a turquoise-colored sweatshirt. The men had dark complexions, and were wearing white T-shirts and black beanies.
The second incident took place at 9:20 p.m. in the 2400 block of Fulton Street, according to police. A woman, no age listed, was walking when she was approached from behind and confronted by a man who pulled out a gun and demanded her property.
Police said he grabbed the victim’s cell phone and wallet and fled in an unknown direction. Police searched the area but could not find him.
He was described as a black man in his 20s, 240 pounds, with a heavy build. He was wearing a black hat with a red bill, a black windbreaker, a black polo shirt and dark jeans.
