
OJAI NORTH! MUSIC FESTIVAL Ojai North! is an eclectic festival of music and dance created by choreographer and music director Mark Morris. Offering a wide range of style and influences, the four-day festival runs through Friday at UC Berkeley’s Hertz Hall or on the Faculty Glade. The Friday program is especially intriguing, with a 5 p.m. musical performance by Lou Harrison and a 10 p.m. free outdoor performance on the Faculty Glade. ‘THIS IS HOW IT GOES’ AT THE AURORA The last play of the Aurora Theatre’s 21st season, This Is How It Goes has its Bay Area premiere Friday night at 8 p.m. Directed by Tom Ross and written by Neil Labute, This Is How It Goes is an edgy, comedic drama that grapples with issues of race, love, betrayal and relationships. BUG DAYS AT UC BOTANICAL GARDEN Bring Dad and the whole family on Saturday or Sunday for a day of fun bug activities at UC Berkeley’s Botanical Garden. Go on a Butterfly Walk, Pollinators Tour, a bee talk, a walk with a world renowned bee expert, and more. The events start at 11 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday. YOUTH OPEN MIC AT THE STARRY PLOUGH Every third Sunday of the month from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., The Starry Plough Pub hosts a Youth Open Mic for those between 3 and 17 to showcase their skills (pictured below). The Youth Open Mic facilitates a supportive, all-ages environment for young musicians, writers, and comedians, so everything from band covers to stand up to spoken word is welcomed. This Sunday, BandWorks is teaming up with the pub, restaurant and live music venue to add another dimension of fun to the mix. SCIENCE WITH DAD AT LAWRENCE HALL OF SCIENCE Love science and want a way to appreciate it with your children? In honor of Father’s Day this Sunday, geek out at the Lawrence Hall of Science with your dad over some fun and creative science and engineering exhibits. Design Quest, which opened this summer, challenges kids to craft ideas, build prototypes, and then test their designs. Or if you’re a shark fan, check out Great White Shark 3D at LHS’s 3-D Theater.
