This is a partial list of recent crimes in Berkeley, compiled by Berkeleyside, and based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department unless otherwise noted. See past crime blotters here. The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times may be approximate. From June 27 to July 3, there were six burglary reports, 18 auto break-in or theft from a vehicle reports, and three stolen vehicle reports to the Berkeley Police Department, according to CrimeMapping.com. Seven robberies and nine assaults, domestic violence incidents or batteries were reported. These numbers are subject to change. Click the previous links for the most current information.
June 27, Thursday
A gun or weapon was reported at 1:51 a.m. at San Pablo Avenue and 62nd Street.
A theft from a vehicle was reported at 7:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Prince Street.
A commercial burglary was reported at 10:08 a.m. in the 1400 block of Shattuck Avenue.
A vehicle was reported at 4 p.m. in the 2100 block of Ward Street.
Police arrested a 17-year-old Berkeley girl in connection with a robbery that occurred in May. Her name will not be released because she is a minor, said police spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Coats. On May 19, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a robbery occurred in the Berkeley Marina. The victim, a male, was robbed via gun by two suspects. They stole the victim’s cash, cell phone and other items. Detectives developed information on a possible suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for the Berkeley girl, who was arrested June 27. No information was available about the other suspect.
June 28, Friday
Five thefts or burglaries from vehicles were reported: at 2 p.m. in the 1600 block of Russell Street; at 7 p.m. in the 100 block of Parkside Drive; at 7 p.m. at Harper Street and Ashby Avenue; at 8 p.m. in the 2400 block of Warring Street; and at 8:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Virginia Street.
A robbery was reported at 10:30 p.m. at Prince and Ellis streets.
A theft from a vehicle was reported at 10:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Dohr Street.
According to a notice released by the University of California Police Department, a man posing as an official campus BearWALK escort walked a female student home then requested a sexual act after escorting her inside. Police said the student called for BearWALK at 11:15 p.m. when she was approached by a man wearing a tan jacket with the word “Bear” on it. She asked him if he was her BearWALK escort and he said he was, then began to walk her home, according to a notice released by police last week. Once they arrived at her home, he asked to use her restroom. Before leaving, police said he “made a request for a sexual act.” The student declined and the man left without incident. He was described as a white man in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds. He had long blond hair in braids and a blond goatee. In addition to the jacket, police said he was wearing sunglasses at night. June 29, Saturday
An auto burglary was reported at 12:01 a.m. in the 1700 block of Grant Street.
Two home burglaries were reported, at 2 a.m. in the 1900 block of Francisco Street, and at 4 p.m. in the 1900 block of Stuart Street.
Three auto burglaries or thefts from vehicles were reported: at 4 p.m. in the 1000 block of Overlook Road; at 4:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Haste Street; and at 4:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Sixth Street.
A home burglary was reported at 5 p.m. in the 2500 block of Ridge Road.
A vehicle was reported stolen at 8 p.m. in the 1300 block of Albina Avenue.
A misdemeanor sexual assault was reported at 9:20 p.m. at Shattuck Avenue and Center Street.
An auto burglary was reported at 10 p.m. in the 1100 block of Hillview Road.
June 30, Sunday
Two robberies were reported, at 1:36 a.m. at 10th Street and Hearst Avenue, and at 4:45 a.m. at Shattuck and University Avenue.
An auto burglary was reported at 7:56 a.m. in the 200 block of University Avenue. In response to a request from Berkeleyside, police provided information about a man and woman who were arrested at the Berkeley Marina after a report made at that time that someone was apparently casing vehicles and trying door handles in the area, said Officer Jennifer Coats, Berkeley Police spokeswoman, via email. Police responded and contacted two people, both 36, who were identified as Grace Sumisaki of Albany and KC Penney of Oakland. During the subsequent investigation police said they found the two in possession of illegal drugs and possible burglary tools. Police said they were also found with items stolen out of a reported stolen vehicle from a neighboring jurisdiction. Both were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and in connection with the drugs and burglary tools.
A home burglary was reported at 7:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Lincoln Street.
A robbery was reported at 10:30 p.m. at Cedar and Spruce streets.
July 1, Monday
A felony sexual assault was reported at 1 a.m. at Ninth Street and Channing Way.
An auto burglary was reported at 12:15 p.m. in the 3000 block of Telegraph Avenue.
A home burglary was reported at 4:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Grant Street.
Two auto burglaries were reported, at 5:10 p.m. in the 2700 block of Webster Street, and at 6 p.m. in the 1700 block of Vine Street.
A stolen vehicle was reported at 8:36 p.m. in the 2000 block of Blake Street.
A gun or weapon was reported at 10:45 p.m. in the 6000 block of Claremont Avenue.
A robbery was reported at 11:50 p.m. at Warring and Parker streets.
July 2, Tuesday
A misdemeanor sexual assault was reported at 9:40 a.m. in the 1900 block of Cedar Street.
Someone reportedly brandished a weapon at 1:38 p.m. at Shattuck Avenue and Kittredge Street.
A robbery was reported at 3:58 p.m. in the 900 block of University Avenue.
An auto burglary was reported at 4 p.m. at Fourth Street and Hearst Avenue, and at 9 p.m. a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 1600 block of Curtis Street.
July 3, Wednesday
A robbery was reported at 7:30 a.m. at Oregon and Ellsworth streets.

July 5, Friday, via UCPD
Police are looking for two men who committed a robbery at gunpoint at 12:15 a.m. near Dwight Way and Warring Street. A 21-year-old woman and man were walking in the area when the robbers approached them; one pointed a gun at them and demanded their property. The robbers fled in a black, late 1990s or early 2000s Honda, Acura or Nissan. Police searched the area but did not find the robbers. They were both described as black men in their late teens to early 20s, with a thin build and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. One was 5 feet 8 inches tall and the other appeared 5 feet 10 inches tall. Authorities ask anyone with information about this incident to call the Berkeley Police Department at 510-981-5900.
