This is a partial list of recent crimes in Berkeley, compiled by Berkeleyside, and based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department unless otherwise noted. The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times may be approximate. Thursday, Aug. 1

Four auto burglaries were reported: at 8 a.m. in the 900 block of Heinz Avenue; at 8 a.m. in the 2600 block of Durant Avenue; at 10:10 a.m. in the 700 block of Ashby Avenue; and at 9 p.m. in the 1300 block of Addison Street.

A homicide was reported at 9:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of San Pablo Avenue. Dustin Bynum was identified as the victim.

A home burglary was reported at 10 p.m. in the 2400 block of Prospect Street.

A commercial burglary was reported at 11:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of Shattuck Avenue.

Friday, Aug. 2

Six burglaries or thefts from vehicles were reported: at 1 a.m. in the 2200 block of Carleton Street; at 8 a.m. in the 2400 block of Sacramento Street; at 11:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Seawall Drive; at 3 p.m. in the 1100 block of Glen Avenue; at 5 p.m. in the 1600 block of Parker Street; and at 6 p.m. in the 2900 block of Hillegass Avenue.

Two robberies were reported: at 1:05 a.m. in the 1700 block of Oregon Street, and at 7 p.m. at Prince and California streets.

Four home burglaries were reported: at 7:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Fulton Street; at 1 p.m. in the 2500 block of Dana Street; at 10 p.m. in the 2900 block of Deakin Street; and at 11 p.m. in the 2300 block of Dwight Way.

A commercial burglary was reported at 3 p.m. in the 700 block of Heinz Avenue.

A vehicle was reported stolen at 6 p.m. at Parker and Acton streets.

An arson was reported at 6:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Acton.

Saturday, Aug. 3

A robbery was reported at 1 a.m. at Shattuck Avenue and Addison Street.

A home burglary was reported at 10 a.m. in the 1900 block of 10th Street.

A vehicle was reported stolen at 2 p.m. in the 2700 block of Shattuck Avenue.

A theft from a vehicle was reported at 2 p.m. in the 2100 block of Oxford Street.

The University of California Police Department reported an assault via skateboard at 11:30 p.m. on Frank Schlessinger Way, near Haas Pavilion. The victim and her friend were walking by a skateboarder who, for unknown reasons, threw his skateboard at her. The skateboard hit the victim’s arm. The skateboarder then fled on the skateboard, westbound on Frank Schlessinger Way. The victim sustained an injury to her arm and was taken to Alta Bates Hospital for treatment. The skateboarder was described as a white male, 20-30 years old, wearing a t-shirt and light-colored cargo pants.

Sunday, Aug. 4

An arson was reported at 12:01 a.m. in the 1400 block of Derby Street.

Two robberies were reported, at 1 a.m. at Milvia Street and Hearst Avenue, and at 4:31 p.m. in the 2000 block of University Avenue.

A home burglary was reported at 6 a.m. in the 2400 block of Fulton Street.

Four auto burglaries were reported: at 9:05 a.m. in the 1200 block of Allston Way; at 5 p.m. in the 3000 block of Telegraph Avenue; 6 p.m. in the 1500 block of Walnut Street; and at 7 p.m. in the 600 block of The Plaza Drive.

A commercial burglary was reported at 11:02 p.m. in the 2000 block of Fourth Street.

A vehicle was reported stolen at 1 p.m. in the 1600 block of Berkeley Way.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 5:17 p.m. at Derby Street and Hillegass Avenue.

Monday, Aug. 5

Five burglaries or thefts from vehicles were reported: at 6 a.m. in the 2500 block of Stuart Street; at 11:20 a.m. in the 2000 block of Ashby Avenue; at 6 p.m. in the 1900 block of Delaware Street; at 8 p.m. in the 1400 block of Campus Drive; at 9:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Shattuck Avenue.

A robbery was reported at 7:32 a.m. at King and Woolsey streets.

Two commercial burglaries were reported, at 9 a.m. in the 2600 block of Telegraph Avenue, and at 12:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of San Pablo Avenue.

A home burglary was reported at noon in the 2100 block of Blake Street.

An arson was reported at 1 p.m. at Webster Street and Telegraph Avenue.

A felony sexual assault was reported at 3 p.m. in the 900 block of University Avenue.

Four vehicles were reported stolen: at 6 p.m. in the 1500 block of Beverly Place; at 8 p.m. in the 2700 block of Ashby Place; at 10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Arch Street; and at 11 p.m. in the 2500 block of Ninth Street.

Tuesday, Aug. 6

At 12:41 a.m., an armed robbery was reported by the University of California Police Department within the Clark Kerr Campus housing complex, 2601 Warring St. The two victims, a female and male summer school student, were sitting on the steps when they were approached by two men wearing bandanas over their faces. One of them displayed a firearm and took the victims’ backpacks and wallet. The robbers ran away toward Warring. Police were unable to locate them. One was described as black, approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build; he was wearing dark clothing, a dark bandana, and was armed with a firearm. The other also was described as black, 5 feet 6, approximately 25 years old with a thin build; he was wearing dark clothing and a dark bandana. Police ask anyone with information to call UCPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau at 510-642-047.

Four home burglaries were reported: at 1 a.m. in the 2300 block of Warring Street; at 10 a.m. in the 2600 block of Webster Street; at noon in the 2800 block of Benvenue Avenue; and at 5 p.m. in the 1400 block of Alcatraz Avenue.

A robbery was reported at 2:12 p.m. at Byron Street and Channing Way.

Six auto burglaries were reported: at 5 p.m. at Fourth and Addison streets; at 6 p.m. in the 2700 block of Shattuck Avenue; at 6:30 and 6:35 p.m. in the 3000 block of Telegraph Avenue; at 9:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of University Avenue; and at 10:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Eighth Street.

Three vehicles were reported stolen: at 9:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way; at 10 p.m. in the 2100 block of Dwight Way; and at 11:59 p.m. in the 2100 block of Durant.

A felony sexual assault was reported at 11:59 p.m. in the 2600 block of Regent Street.

Wednesday, Aug. 7

Four auto burglaries were reported: at 11:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Euclid Avenue; at 12:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of San Pablo; at 5:15 p.m. in the 1700 block of Fourth Street; and at 6 p.m. in the 1700 block of Fourth.

A home burglary was reported at 4:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Lincoln Street.

A commercial burglary was reported at 6 p.m. in the 2500 block of Ashby.

Two robberies were reported, at 7:40 p.m. in the 1200 block of Channing Way, and at 11:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Bancroft Way.

A vehicle was reported stolen at 8:30 p.m. at Sacramento and Ada streets.

A gun or weapon was reported at 8:43 p.m. in the 1000 block of 62nd Street.
