This is a partial list of recent crimes in Berkeley, compiled by Berkeleyside, and based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department unless otherwise noted. The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times may be approximate. From Aug. 15-21, there were 11 burglary reports25 auto break-in or theft from a vehicle reports, and 14 stolen vehicle reports to the Berkeley Police Department, according to CrimeMapping.comSix robberies and 13 assaults, domestic violence incidents or batteries were reported. These numbers are subject to change. Thursday, Aug. 15

Two burglaries or thefts from vehicles were reported, at midnight in the 2000 block of Berkeley Way, and at 7 p.m. in the 900 block of Ensenada Avenue.

Two robberies were reported, at 12:45 a.m. in the 1800 block of Euclid Avenue, and at 1:10 a.m. at Blake and Dana streets. During the Euclid incident, according to information released by the University of California Police Department, a 25-year-old man was walking when a man with a gun approached him. He took the victim’s property and got into a red, newer model, Ford Mustang driven by an accomplice; they fled east on Ridge Road and police were unable to find them. Both were described as black men; the man with the gun appeared in his early 20s, was 6 feet tall and had a slender build. No further description was available for the driver. The University of California Police Department also put out a release after a suspect in a campus robbery escaped from custody. Police said the strong-arm robbery took place at 12:56 p.m. in O’Brien Hall and Hesse Hall. University staff members detained the man and notified UCPD. Officers arrested Deorge Davis, 53 years old. The next day, police said, Davis escaped from a “non-secured Alameda County facility” and no longer is in custody. Police ask members of the public to “Please keep your eyes out for this individual and call UCPD immediately at 510-642-3333 if you see him.” A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

A vehicle was reported stolen at 5:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of Channing Way.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 6:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of Ashby Avenue.

Friday, Aug. 16

Two robberies were reported, at 1:05 a.m. at Telegraph Avenue and Blake Street, and at 7:13 a.m. at Alcatraz Avenue and Dover Street. According to a notice released by the University of California Police Department, a strong-arm robbery took place and Telegraph and Blake at 1:05 a.m. A 21-year-old woman was walking on Telegraph when a teenage boy walking the opposite direction passed her, then pulled her purse off her shoulder from behind. He fled on foot and police were unable to find him. He was described as about 15 years old, 5 feet 2 to 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a red-and-black horizontal-striped polo-style shirt and a red baseball cap. Tipsters can call the Berkeley Police Department at 510-981-5900 with information.

Three burglaries or thefts from vehicles were reported: at 8 a.m. in the 2000 block of 10th Street; at 4 p.m. in the 1200 block of Carlotta Avenue; and at 11 p.m. in the 1800 block of Shattuck Avenue.

Three vehicles were reported stolen: at 3 p.m. in the 800 block of Spruce Street; at 5:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Berkeley Way; and at 10 p.m. at Ward and Mabel streets.

Three home burglaries were reported: at 3:29 p.m. in the 700 block of Parnassus Road; at 5:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Shasta Road; and at 9 p.m. in the 1400 block of Russell Street.

A commercial burglary was reported at 6 p.m. in the 1000 block of Camelia Street.

Someone reportedly brandished a weapon at 7:10 p.m. in the 2100 block of Shattuck Avenue.

Saturday, Aug. 17

Two burglaries or thefts from vehicles were reported, at midnight in the 600 block of Vincente Avenue, and at 7 p.m. in the 2900 block of Avalon Avenue.

Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 3 p.m. in the 200 block of University Avenue, and at 6 p.m. in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

A home burglary was reported at 4:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Euclid Avenue.

Sunday, Aug. 18

Three vehicles were reported stolen: at 9:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Seawall Drive; at 12:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of Scenic Avenue; and at 4:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Stuart Street.

A theft from a vehicle was reported at 1:30 p.m. at Virginia and Fifth streets.

A home burglary was reported at 6 p.m. in the 2200 block of Dwight Way.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 8:49 p.m. in the 900 block of University Avenue.

A gun or weapon was reported at 10:10 p.m. in the 2200 block of Shattuck Avenue.

Monday, Aug. 19

Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 5:50 a.m. in the 1200 block of Rose Street, and at 8 p.m. in the 1700 block of Oregon Street.

A home burglary was reported at 7:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Wheeler Street.

Six burglaries or thefts from vehicles were reported, at 1:55 p.m. in the 1300 block of Sixth Street; at 3:20 p.m. in the 3000 block of Telegraph Avenue; at 4:10 p.m. in the 2800 block of San Pablo Avenue; at 9 p.m. in the 1500 block of Seventh Street; at 9:30 p.m. at Dwight Way and McGee Avenue; and at 10:20 p.m. in the 1200 block of Ashby Avenue.

An arson was reported at 9 p.m. in the 1300 block of Berkeley Way.

Tuesday, Aug. 20

Two robberies were reported, at 1:10 a.m. in the 1300 block of San Pablo Avenue, and at 8:33 p.m. at Woolsey Street and Shattuck Avenue.

A commercial burglary was reported at 3:13 a.m. in the 1100 block of Eighth Street.

Five auto burglaries were reported: at 4:25 a.m. in the 1600 block of Fifth Street; at 5:30 p.m. in the 800 block of University Avenue; at 6:24 p.m. in the 900 block of Gilman Street; at 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of Woolsey; and at 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Woolsey.

Two home burglaries were reported, at 11:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Boise Street, and at 11:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Russell Street.

A gun or other weapon was reported at 6:30 p.m. at Allston Way and Harold Way.

A vehicle was reported stolen at 11 p.m. in the 2100 block of Derby Street.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 9 a.m. in the 1000 block of Channing Way, and at 10:30 a.m. in the 2700 block of Milvia Street.
