Last week Berkeleyside, in collaboration with Another Planet Entertainment, ran a giveaway offering two pairs of free tickets to see the great tenor Placido Domingo, who is performing at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley on Saturday September 7 (regular individual ticket price is $425).
We are delighted to announce we have our winners! Cathy Bowman and Carol Coyote are the lucky two who won a pair of tickets each and will see Domingo live in our hometown.
Here are the answers to the three questions we posed: What nationality is Placido Domingo? Spanish. In which city was he born? Madrid. Which musical instrument does he play? Piano.
Domingo, 73, who has been called “the greatest operatic artist of modern times,” is also a respected conductor, and is the General Director of Los Angeles Opera and Washington National Opera. In Berkeley, he will appear with guests Angel Joy Blue, Micäela Oeste and Eugene Kohn, as well as with the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra.
