This is a partial list of recent crimes in Berkeley, compiled by Berkeleyside, and based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department unless otherwise noted. The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times may be approximate. From Sept. 5-11, there were 30 burglary reports21 auto break-in or theft from a vehicle reports, and 23 stolen vehicle reports to the Berkeley Police Department, according to CrimeMapping.comEight robberies and 14 assaults, domestic violence incidents or batteries were reported. These numbers are subject to change. Thursday, Sept. 5

Three commercial burglaries were reported: at midnight in the 2100 block of University Avenue; at 3:10 a.m. in the 2100 block of Center Street; and at 4:22 a.m. in the 2100 block of Shattuck Avenue.

Five auto burglaries were reported: at 6:20 a.m. in the 2400 block of Ellsworth Street; at 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Seawall Drive; at 5:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Frontage Road; at 9:30 p.m. at Shattuck Avenue and Ward Street; and at 10:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Gilman Street.

Two home burglaries were reported, at 8 a.m. in the 2000 block of Prince Street, and at 11:50 a.m. in the 3100 block of Mabel Street.

A vehicle was reported stolen at noon in the 2800 block of Garber Street.

A gun or other weapon was reported at 5:04 p.m. in the 1100 block of Francisco Street.

Police conducted a search warrant at the home of Larry Reed in the 1100 block of Francisco Street at about 8:40 p.m. During the search, according to Officer Jennifer Coats, Berkeley Police spokeswoman, authorities found a firearm and ammunition in the home that were “illegally possessed by the occupant.” Reed, 53, was arrested and transported to the Berkeley City Jail. He no longer appears to be in custody according to the Alameda County sheriff’s department.

The day before, police arrested felon Roland Christopher Jackson in Berkeley after authorities said he used a knife to threaten a woman who had a protective order against him. The Alameda County district attorney’s office charged Jackson with five felonies and two misdemeanors related to domestic violence, use of the knife, home burglary, making criminal threats, false imprisonment by violence, kidnapping and disobeying a domestic violence protective order. According to the district attorney’s office, Jackson had three prior domestic violence convictions — in 2000, 2005 and 2010 — and had previously received prison terms for stalking, domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. Jackson remains in custody and is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing Sept. 25.

Friday, Sept. 6

A felony assault or battery was reported at midnight in the 1200 block of Ashby Avenue.

Three home burglaries were reported: at 4:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Channing Way; at 2 p.m. in the 1100 block of University Avenue; and at 4:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Buena Vista Way.

Two auto burglaries were reported, at 7 a.m. in the 1200 block of Evelyn Avenue, and at 11 p.m. in the 2400 block of Durant Avenue.

Five vehicles were reported stolen: at 11 a.m. in the 3000 block of Sacramento Street; at 4:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Miller Avenue; at 7 p.m. at Parker and Grant streets; at 7:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Euclid Avenue; and at 8:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Campus Drive.

Two robberies were reported, at 5:50 p.m. in the 2100 block of Milvia Street, and at 7:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Euclid Avenue.

A commercial burglary was reported at 8:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Cedar Street.

Earlier this year, on May 6, police responded to a report of a man inside a vehicle masturbating in the 800 block of Euclid Avenue. Police responded and arrested Kevin Senefeld of Berkeley on suspicion of committing a lewd act in public. He was cited at the scene, according to Coats, with a promise to appear in court. According to the district attorney’s office, he had a pretrial hearing Sept. 6.

Police arrested Devaughn Greene at 8 a.m. in connection with a domestic violence-related assault, robbery and probation violation that took place in Berkeley in August. On Aug. 5, police responded to a Berkeley home and spoke with a woman who said Greene strangled her and punched her several times in the face, then took her cell phone and ATM card before fleeing. The district attorney’s office in its complaint has charged Greene with domestic violence with a great bodily injury clause, felony robbery, misdemeanor violation of a stay-away order and felony criminal threats. Authorities said Greene had prior convictions for possession for sale of cocaine base; the sale, transportation of offer to sell a controlled substance; and possession of ammunition. He remains in custody in Santa Rita Jail and is scheduled for arraignment Sept. 27.

Saturday, Sept. 7

Four vehicles were reported stolen: at 2:23 a.m. in the 2800 block of Webster Street; at 4 p.m. in the 1100 block of Eighth Street; at 9 p.m. in the 1500 block of Russell Street; and at 11 p.m. in the 2900 block of Dohr Street.

Two home burglaries were reported, at 3:45 a.m. in the 2400 block of Ellsworth Street, and at 10 a.m. in the 2600 block of California Street.

Two commercial burglaries were reported, at 6 a.m. in the 2300 block of Fourth Street, and at 9:14 p.m. in the 2800 block of Adeline Street.

Three robberies were reported: at 3:40 p.m. in the 1800 block of Solano Avenue; at 4:40 p.m. at Alcatraz Avenue and Dover Street; and at 6:40 p.m. in the 2200 block of Spaulding Avenue.

Two auto burglaries were reported, at 8 p.m. in the 2300 block of Roosevelt Avenue, and at 9 p.m. in the 1200 block of Hearst Avenue.

Sunday, Sept. 8

Two auto burglaries were reported, at midnight in the 1500 block of Tyler Street, and at 4 p.m. in the 700 block of Keeler Avenue.

Three home burglaries were reported, at 12:16 a.m. in the 2400 block of Haste Street; at 5:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Shasta Road; and at 5:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of 10th Street.

Three commercial burglaries were reported, at 2:39 a.m. in the 1600 block of Fifth Street; at 2:18 p.m. in the 800 block of Potter Street; and at 3:33 p.m. in the 2100 block of Shattuck Avenue.

Two robberies were reported, at 4:45 a.m. in the 900 block of Grizzly Peak Boulevard, and at 12:52 p.m. at Hillegass Avenue and Stuart Street.

A homicide was reported at 5:41 p.m. in the 1400 block of Eighth Street. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Anthony Medearis III.

A felony sexual assault was reported at 6 p.m. in the 2900 block of Channing Way.

Six vehicles were reported stolen: at 7:30 p.m. at Webster Street and College Avenue; at 8 p.m. in the 2300 block of Fourth Street; at 9 p.m. in the 1200 block of Francisco Street; at 9 p.m. in the 2900 block of Russell Street; at 10 p.m. in the 2600 block of Haste Street; and at 11 p.m. in the 2200 block of Haste.

Monday, Sept. 9

Three auto burglaries were reported, at 8 a.m. in the 2900 block of Hillegass; at 9:45 a.m. at Seawall Drive and University Avenue; and at 7:35 p.m. in the 2800 block of Adeline Street.

Four vehicles were reported stolen: at 8 a.m. in the 1600 block of Chestnut Street; at 6 p.m. at Euclid and Hilgard avenues; at 8 p.m. in the 2900 block of Wheeler Street; and at 10 p.m. in the 1300 block of Kains Avenue.

A commercial burglary was reported at 8:45 a.m. in the 1900 block of Berkeley Way.

Tuesday, Sept. 10

Three vehicles were reported stolen: at 1:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of Essex Street; at 5 p.m. in the 1900 block of El Dorado Avenue; and at 10:19 p.m. in the 1100 block of Spruce Street.

Six home burglaries were reported: two at 9 a.m. in the 2600 block of Stuart Street; at 9:45 a.m. in the 2800 block of Regent Street; at 10:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Ashby Avenue; at 3:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Dwight Way; and at 11 p.m. in the 100 block of Hillcrest Road.

Three auto burglaries were reported: at 11:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Fourth Street; at 8 p.m. in the 2300 block of Blake Street; and at 9 p.m. in the 400 block of Gilman Street.

A gun or other weapon was reported at 1:41 p.m. in the 1500 block of Harmon Street.

A commercial burglary was reported at 6:41 p.m. in the 2800 block of Telegraph Avenue.

A robbery was reported at 10:38 p.m. in the 1700 block of 10th Street.

Police arrested Krishna Ferreira of San Leandro in connection with the shooting death in August of Berkeley resident Dustin Bynum outside Bing’s Liquors. He remains in custody in Santa Rita Jail.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

Two commercial burglaries were reported, at 3 a.m. in the 2500 block of Bancroft Way, and at 2 p.m. in the 1900 block of Virginia Street.

Four auto burglaries were reported: at 5 p.m. in the 400 block of Boynton Avenue; at 9 p.m. in the 2100 block of Vine Street; at 9:30 p.m. at Ninth and Grayson streets; and at 9:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Cedar Street.
