
This is a partial list of recent crimes in Berkeley, compiled by Berkeleyside, and based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department unless otherwise noted. See past crime blotters here. The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times may be approximate. From Sept. 12-18, there were 15 burglary reports, 31 auto break-in or theft from a vehicle reports, and 19 stolen vehicle reports to the Berkeley Police Department, according to CrimeMapping.com. Six robberies and 18 assaults, domestic violence incidents or batteries were reported. These numbers are subject to change. Click the previous links for the most current information.
Thursday, Sept. 12
Eight thefts or burglaries from vehicles were reported: at 3:40 a.m. in the 1400 block of Seventh Street; at 4 p.m. in the 1700 block of Dwight Way; at 5 p.m. in the 1300 block of Sixth Street; at 6 p.m. in the 2200 block of Derby Street; at 8 p.m. in the 2000 block of Emerson Street; at 8:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of Sixth; at 9 p.m. in the 1300 block of Sixth; and at 11:59 p.m. in the 1700 block of Carleton Street.
A commercial burglary was reported at 6 p.m. in the 2400 block of McKinley Avenue.
A vehicle was reported stolen at 6 p.m. in the 1700 block of 10th Street.
A home burglary was reported at 8 p.m. at an unlisted location.
Friday, Sept. 13
A felony sexual assault was reported at 12:01 a.m. in the 1300 block of Blake Street.
A gun or other weapon was reported at 2:10 a.m. in the 1600 block of Russell Street.
A home burglary was reported at 5 a.m. in the 2700 block of Haste Street.
Three vehicles were reported stolen: at noon in the 1500 block of Posen Avenue; at 5 p.m. at 10th Street and University Avenue; and at 7 p.m. in the 400 block of Gilman Street.
A commercial burglary was reported at 6 p.m. in the 1200 block of Euclid Avenue.
Five auto burglaries were reported: at 8 p.m. in the 1600 block of Woolsey Street; at 10 p.m. in the 2400 block of 10th; and at 10:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Addison Street, the 1400 block of Ashby Avenue and the 1300 block of San Pablo Avenue.

Saturday, Sept. 14
Two home burglaries were reported, at 12:15 a.m. in the 3000 block of Deakin Street, and at 1:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Haste Street.
A felony assault or battery was reported at 12:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Piedmont Avenue.
Seven vehicles were reported stolen: at 2 a.m. in the 2300 block of Warring Street; at 5:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Amador Avenue; at 6:25 a.m. in the 1500 block of Arch Street; at noon in the 2400 block of Eighth Street; at noon at Walnut and Vine streets; at 7:15 p.m. at Ashby Avenue and Ashby Place; and at 8 p.m. in the 1900 block of Vine Street.
Four auto burglaries were reported: at 8:38 a.m. in the 1000 block of Ashby Avenue; at 1 p.m. in the 1300 block of San Pablo Avenue; at 2:07 p.m. at Harrison and Sixth streets; and at 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of Channing Way.
A commercial burglary was reported at 1:10 p.m. in the 2400 block of Shattuck Avenue.
A robbery and assault were reported at 11 p.m. at Piedmont Avenue and Bancroft Way. According to the University of California Police Department, a 25-year-old man was at the intersection when he was approached by four men who knocked him to the ground and assaulted him. Police said he may have been kicked several times. The suspects ran away, and the victim was taken for medical care; police said he was unable to be questioned due to his injuries. Police searched the area and detained two people matching the description of two of the men involved in the attack, but witnesses could not positively identify them. One of the men was released and the other was arrested on an outstanding warrant. The victim reported items missing from his wallet. The assailants were described as a Hispanic man in his 20s with a medium build, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with black hair in a ponytail and wearing a white T-shirt and jeans; two Hispanic men in their 20s (no further description); and a black man in his 20s (no further description). Authorities ask anyone with information about this crime to call the Berkeley Police Department at 510-981-5900.
Sunday, Sept. 15
Two felony assaults or batteries were reported, at 12:54 a.m. in the 2300 block of Piedmont Avenue, and at 1:06 p.m. in the 2800 block of Park Street.
Eight auto burglaries were reported: at 1 a.m. in the 1100 block of Sutter Street; at 3 p.m. in the 2400 block of Piedmont Avenue; at 5 p.m. in the 2100 block of Sixth Street; at 5 p.m. in the 2300 block of Channing; at 6 p.m. at Bancroft Way and Bowditch Street; at 7 p.m. in the 2200 block of Shattuck Avenue; at 7:45 p.m. at Dana Street and Durant Avenue; and at 8 p.m. in the 180 block of Tamalpais Road.
Three vehicles were reported stolen: at 2:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Grizzly Peak Boulevard; at 9 a.m. in the 100 block of Seawall Drive; and at 7 p.m. in the 1400 block of 66th Street.
A commercial burglary was reported at 3:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Fourth Street.
Two robberies were reported, at 9:45 a.m. at Ellsworth and Russell streets, and at 2:50 p.m. at Bancroft and Ellsworth.
Monday, Sept. 16
A home burglary was reported at 10 a.m. in the 2900 block of Regent Street.
Someone reportedly brandished a weapon at 10:46 a.m. in the 2000 block of Kittredge Street.
Two auto burglaries were reported, at 6 p.m. in the 3100 block of King Street, and at 7:10 p.m. at Dwight Way and Fernwald Road.
A vehicle was reported stolen at 6 p.m. in the 1000 block of Mariposa Avenue.
A commercial burglary was reported at 6:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of College Avenue.
At 7:43 p.m., a robbery occurred near the southwest corner of the Valley Life Sciences Building on the UC Berkeley Campus, according to campus police. The victim, a 19-year-old UC-affiliated female, was walking along the Grinnell Path from Oxford Street while texting on her iPhone. The victim put the phone in her pants pocket. As she neared the south side of Valley Life Sciences, she felt someone run into her. A man grabbed her phone from her pocket, knocking her to the ground. The man fled the scene and a passer-by chased the robber to the south side of Haas Pavilion, where he dropped the phone. The passer-by retrieved the phone and returned it to the victim, who had suffered minor injuries. Police searched the area but could not locate the suspect. He was described as a black male, 20-25 years old, 6 feet tall with a medium build and either short hair or bald. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with either white- or light-colored markings on the front, and light-colored jeans.
A robbery was reported at 10 p.m. in the 2900 block of San Pablo Avenue.

Tuesday, Sept. 17
Two thefts or burglaries from vehicles were reported, at midnight in the 1400 block of Arch Street, and at 6 p.m. in the 1300 block of Dwight Way.
Four home burglaries were reported: at 8:45 a.m. and 9:25 a.m. in the 2500 block of Dana; at 10 a.m. in the 2400 block of Ellsworth; and at 6 p.m. in the 2500 block of Acton Street.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man inside Doe Library who was reported to be exposing himself and performing a lewd act while seated at a computer in an area open to the public, according to the University of California Police Department. Officers arrested Joel Gregory Wagner at about 9 a.m. Authorities said there is reason to believe he may have committed similar acts on or near campus in the recent past. Police ask anyone sees Wagner on campus, or has seen him in connection to other crimes, to report him to UCPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau at 510-642-6760.
A robbery was reported at 9:04 p.m. at Bancroft and Dana.
Wednesday, Sept. 18
Four vehicles were reported stolen: at midnight in the 900 block of Addison Street; at 4 a.m. at Ashby and College avenues; at 8 a.m. at Webster Street and College Avenue; and at 6:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of University Avenue.
Two auto burglaries were reported, at midnight in the 1100 block of Hopkins Street, and at 7:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Fourth Street.
A felony sexual assault was reported at 5:49 a.m. in the 2100 block of Allston Way.
A robbery was reported at 6 p.m. at Regent Street and Ashby Avenue.
A home burglary was reported at 8 p.m. in the 2100 block of Russell Street.
