Come along with Nosh as we explore the East Bay food scene in photographs. This week we focus on Desco, at 499 Ninth St., in Old Oakland. The restaurant, which emphasizes seasonally fresh, ingredient-driven regional Italian cuisine, is overseen by executive chef Donato Scotti, who grew up in Italy. The 50-seat dining room has rustic wooden furnishings and a vintage brick wall, which contribute to a comfortable, old-world feel. Outdoor sidewalk seating and a copper-topped bar add to the decor. Desco is open daily: Monday to Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from 3-9 p.m. If you’ve tried the spots we feature, please let us know about your experience in the comments below.
