This is a partial list of recent crime in Berkeley, compiled by Berkeleyside, and based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department unless otherwise noted. See past crime blotters here.

The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times may be approximate. From Dec. 12-18, there were nine burglary reports28 auto break-in or theft from a vehicle reports, and 10 stolen vehicle reports to the Berkeley Police Department, according to CrimeMapping.comEleven robberies and 13 assaults, domestic violence incidents or batteries were reported. These numbers are subject to change. Thursday, Dec. 12

Two robberies were reported, at midnight in the 2300 block of Telegraph Avenue, and at 2:02 a.m. in the 2500 block of Bancroft Way.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 9:50 a.m. at Fulton and Kittredge streets. 

Two vehicles were reported stolen, at noon in the 1300 block of Parker Street, and at 4 p.m. in the 2500 block of Regent Street.

An auto burglary was reported at 5:55 p.m. in the 2600 block of Hillegass Avenue.

Friday, Dec. 13

Two home burglaries were reported, at 8:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Addison Street, and 7 p.m. in the 2400 block of Roosevelt Avenue.

Four commercial burglaries were reported: at 12:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of San Pablo Avenue; 3 p.m. in the 2400 block of Ashby Avenue; 6:56 p.m. in the 1800 block of Solano Avenue; and 10:20 p.m. in the 2900 block of San Pablo Avenue.

A vehicle was reported stolen at 2:30 p.m. in the 200 block of University Avenue.

Seven thefts or burglaries from vehicles were reported: at 5 p.m. in the 1200 block of Peralta Avenue; at 6 p.m. in the 2700 block of Benvenue Avenue; at 6:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Berkeley Way; at 7:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Ninth Street; at 8:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Adeline Street; at 9:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Fairview Street; and at 10 p.m. in the 2600 block of Grant Street.

Someone reportedly brandished a weapon at 6:07 p.m. in the 1400 block of Bonita Avenue.

A robbery was reported at 9:22 p.m. at Milvia Street and Channing Way.

Saturday, Dec. 14

Five robberies were reported: at 12:28 a.m. at Derby Street and Hillegass Avenue; at 6:10 a.m. in the 2300 block of Shattuck Avenue; at 7:43 a.m. at Haste Street and College Avenue; at 4:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Telegraph Avenue; and at 11:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Park Street.

In the Derby and Hillegass robbery, a male and female were walking when two people approached them from behind, pushed the female and grabbed her purse, according to a statement released by the University of California Police Department. The female turned around and saw that one of the suspects had a gun. The men began pushing the male victim to try to take his property, then one of the robbers struck him with the gun and took it. Both suspects fled to a waiting brown or red color vehicle. The victims suffered minor injuries during the encounter. Police were unable to find the men, described as Hispanic, in the early 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 175 pounds. One was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans. The other one, who had the gun, was wearing a light-colored shirt, baggy jeans and a gray beanie cap.

In the Shattuck Avenue robbery, a 31-year-old man was walking when a man approached and demanded his property. The victim refused and the suspect hit the victim with his hand and pointed a gun at him, according to a statement released by the University of California Police Department.  The victim gave the suspect his property. The suspect fled southbound on Shattuck on foot. Police were unable to find the man, described as black, 30-40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, and wearing a blue puffy jacket.

In the robbery at College and Haste, according to a notice released by the University of California Police Department, a 19-year-old woman was walking when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her backpack. He pointed a pellet gun at her and and punched her in the face, then took the backpack and fled to a waiting older model dark green four-door sedan.. The woman sustained minor injuries. Police could not find the robber, who was described as a black man, 25-32 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build and dark complexion, with a clean-shaven head and wearing a red, white and gray hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. Police ask anyone with information to call the Berkeley Police Department at 510-981-5900.

Five thefts or burglaries from vehicles were reported: at 2 a.m. in the 2300 block of Blake Street; at 9:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Warring Street; at 4:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way; at 7 p.m. in the 1900 block of Dwight Way; and at 7 p.m. in the 2700 block of College.

A vehicle was reported stolen at 10:30 a.m. at Jones and Fifth streets.

A home burglary was reported at 10:47 a.m. in the 2200 block of Bonar Street.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 9 p.m. in the 1700 block of Ward Street.

Three suspects were arrested  after an assault with a deadly weapon People’s Park. UCPD reported that on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 12:17 p.m. a UCPD officer was driving by People’s Park when she observed a large fight taking place in the middle of the park. The officer exited the vehicle and observed suspect #1 wielding a large machete. Suspect #2 was in possession of a handle of a fishing pole. The officer could see and hear that the two weapons were making contact. The officer also observed suspect #3 pick up a large metal pole with a hook on the end of it. The officer told the three combatants to drop their weapons. The suspects reluctantly complied with the order. All three suspects were taken into custody. The suspects are described as: Suspect #1:  FLOYD, Steven, a 49 year old non-affiliated White male, 6’0” in height, 180 lbs., with a medium build, grey medium length hair. Suspect #2 – ANTON, Justin, a 26 year old non-affiliated White male, 5’10” in height, 165 lbs., with a medium build, with long brown hair in a ponytail, and wearing a goatee. Suspect #3 – SMITH, Al Geary, a 54 year old non-affiliated Black male, 5’07” in height, 180 lbs., with a medium build, with black hair and wearing goatee.

Sunday, Dec. 15

A robbery was reported at midnight at Adeline Street and Alcatraz avenue.

Two thefts or burglaries from vehicles were reported, at 3 a.m. in the 3300 block of Adeline Street, and at 4 a.m. in the 2100 block of Dwight Way.

Three vehicles were reported stolen: at 4 a.m. in the 2200 block of Blake Street; at 8:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of Baker Street; and at 9 p.m. at Shattuck Avenue and Prince Street.

A home burglary was reported at noon in the 1600 block of Oregon Street.

A gun or other weapon was reported at 10:35 p.m. at King and Harmon streets.

Monday, Dec. 16

A vehicle was reported stolen at 2 a.m. at Channing Way and Shattuck Avenue.

Two auto burglaries were reported, at noon at Gilman and Fourth streets, and at 8 p.m. in the 2500 block of Regent Street.

A robbery was reported at 6:52 p.m. in the 100 block of Bolivar Drive.

Tuesday, Dec. 17

Two thefts or burglaries from vehicles were reported, at 7:25 a.m. in the 2000 block of Delaware Street, and at 8:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Alcatraz Avenue.

Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 10:20 a.m. in the 1900 block of Berryman Street, and at 9:30 p.m. at Telegraph Avenue and Dwight Way.

Just before 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an intoxicated subject creating a disturbance inside a business in the 1900 block of Shattuck Avenue. Officers contacted the person and attempted to investigate further. The officer noted that the subject was showing symptoms of alcohol impairment, said Officer Jennifer Coats, police spokeswoman, in response to a request from Berkeleyside. Officers went to detain the subject after he failed to provide his information and appeared to be intoxicated in public. He became physically resistive and took up a fighting stance.  Officers tried to place the subject into handcuffs, but he continued to resist. Officers called for assistance and other officers respond. The subject was eventually handcuffed and placed in a patrol vehicle. He was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and restricting or obstructing a police officer. He was taken to the Berkeley City Jail.

Wednesday, Dec. 18

A home burglary was reported at 10 a.m. in the 2000 block of Prince Street.

A robbery was reported at 9:15 p.m. in the 2300 block of Shattuck Avenue.
