Berkeleyside’s primary mission is to cover the news in Berkeley, but we also take seriously our role in building and fostering community. To that end, we have always been honored to publish obituaries, to commemorate the lives of Berkeleyans.

Recently we remembered much-loved members of the community such as Saul ZaentzMarty Rabkin, and Henrik Bull. The two most recently published obituaries are for Faith Geer and Gertrude Khuner.

Because of the value of remembering community members, we have now created a special section on Berkeleyside for obituaries. You can reach it easily by clicking the orange “Obituaries” slug at the top of the Berkeleyside homepage.

One of the beauties of a dedicated obituaries section is that all the remembrances are gathered together which makes finding them much easier for readers. We encourage you to share your memories in the comments sections of the individual obituaries and hope that we can thus provide a forum for community support.

Berkeleyside publishes obituaries of members of the Berkeley community for no charge. If you would like to submit an obituary, simply email text and photo(s) to editors@berkeleyside.org.

Berkeleyside is Berkeley, California’s independently-owned local news site. Learn more about the Berkeleyside team. Questions? Email editors@berkeleyside.org.
