This is a partial list of recent crime in Berkeley, compiled by Berkeleyside, and based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department unless otherwise noted. See past crime blotters here.

The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times may be approximate. From Jan. 23-29, there were 17 burglary reports17 auto break-in or theft from a vehicle reports, and 12 stolen vehicle reports to the Berkeley Police Department, according to CrimeMapping.comThree robberies and 22 assaults, domestic violence incidents or batteries were reported. These numbers are subject to change. Thursday, Jan. 23

Five burglaries or thefts from a vehicle were reported: at 2 a.m. at Woolsey and King streets; at noon at Milvia and Kittredge streets; at noon in the 1800 block of Sonoma Avenue; at 5 p.m. in the 900 block of Bataan Avenue; and at 6:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Allston Way.

Two home burglaries were reported, at 8:10 a.m. in the 2300 block of Spaulding Avenue, and at 5 p.m. in the 2200 block of 10th Street.

A commercial burglary was reported at 2:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of University Avenue.

Three vehicles were reported stolen: at 4 p.m. in the 2400 block of Edwards Street; at 5 p.m. in the 2700 block of Bancroft Way; and at 7:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Webster Street.

A felony sexual assault was reported at 5 p.m. at Sacramento and Delaware streets.

A robbery was reported at 6:20 p.m. at Grant and Blake streets.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 6:57 p.m. at Delaware and Walnut streets.

Friday, Jan. 24

Four home burglaries were reported: at 12:01 a.m. in the 400 block of Vassar Avenue; at 11 a.m. in the 1300 block of Stannage Avenue; at 6 p.m. in the 2700 block of Stuart Street; and at 7 p.m. in the 2900 block of Channing Way.

Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 1:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Dana Street; and at 9 a.m. in the 800 block of Jones Street.

Two commercial burglaries were reported, at 2:05 p.m. in the 2000 block of Addison Street; and at 8 p.m. in the 1900 block of University Avenue.

A misdemeanor sexual assault was reported at 3:30 p.m. at Claremont Avenue and Webster Street.

Four thefts or burglaries from vehicles were reported: at 4 p.m. in the 1400 block of Euclid Avenue, and at 5 p.m. in the 1600 block of Ashby Avenue.

A gun or other weapon was reported at 6:30 p.m. at Haskell Street and San Pablo Avenue.

A robbery was reported at 7:27 p.m. in the 1400 block of Shattuck Avenue. Police arrested 40-year-old Mike Knight. He has been charged with second-degree robbery, assault and theft, according to the Alameda County sheriff’s department. He remains in custody at Santa Rita Jail with a bail of $65,000, and is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing Feb. 5.

Saturday, Jan. 25

A theft from a vehicle was reported at 9:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Seawall Drive.

A burglary was reported at 7:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Domingo Avenue.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 7:40 p.m. in the 2500 block of Durant Avenue.

The University of California Police Department reported a sexual assault. Authorities said a female student had been invited to an off-campus bar by a male acquaintance. Afterward, the man took the victim to an apartment at University Village in Albany, where he allegedly committed a sexual assault. The man was described as Hispanic, 40 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 pounds. Police ask anyone with information to call the University of California Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau at 510-642-6760.

Sunday, Jan. 26

Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 12:01 a.m. in the 1900 block of Seventh Street, and at 4 p.m. in the 2200 block of Piedmont Avenue.

A robbery was reported at 3 a.m. at Dwight Way and Etna Street. Just after 3:10 a.m., an 18-year-old man was walking in the area when he was approached by another man, according to a notice released by the University of California Police Department. The robber grabbed the victim and demanded his wallet, and the 18-year-old gave him cash from the wallet. The robber struck the victim and demanded his cellphone. After the victim turned over his cellphone, the robber fled southbound on Etna. The victim suffered minor physical injuries, but did not require medical attention. Police searched but could not find the man, who was described as Hispanic, in his mid-20s to 30s with a heavy build, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a small goatee, and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a dark-colored baseball cap. Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call the Berkeley Police Department at 510-981-5900.

Police arrested 20-year-old Yolando Gourdine Jr. in Berkeley on suspicion of burglary. He is no longer in custody.

A home burglary was reported at 12:25 p.m. in the 3000 block of Bateman Street.

Someone reportedly brandished a weapon at 1:07 a.m. at Vine Street and Shattuck Avenue.

A commercial burglary was reported at 1:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Shattuck.

A misdemeanor sexual assault was reported at 10:40 p.m. in the 2400 block of Dana Street.

Monday, Jan. 27

Two commercial burglaries were reported, at 5:40 a.m. in the 1800 block of Alcatraz Avenue, and at 11 p.m. in the 1700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

Two home burglaries were reported, at 10:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Hopkins Street, and at 9:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of Prospect Street.

Three vehicles were reported stolen: at 2 p.m. in the 2500 block of Piedmont Avenue; at 8:30 p.m. at Merced Street and Sonoma Avenue; and at 9 p.m. in the 900 block of Hilldale Avenue.

Five auto burglaries were reported: at 3 p.m. in the 1800 block of Fourth Street; at 7 p.m. in the 2900 block of Benvenue Avenue; at 9 p.m. in the 2900 block of Regent Street; at 9 p.m. in the 2100 block of Vine Street; and at 11:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of Catalina Avenue.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 3 p.m. in the 200 block of University Avenue.

Tuesday, Jan. 28

Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 4:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of Haste Street, and at 5 p.m. in the 2400 block of Warring Street.

A commercial burglary was reported at 6:43 a.m. in the 2200 block of Fifth Street.

An injury collision was reported at Hearst and San Pablo avenues, with one vehicle overturned, at 8:10 a.m. One person was taken to a local hospital for treatment, said Berkeley Police Officer Jennifer Coats via email. No further information was available.

A home burglary was reported at noon in the 1200 block of Burnett Street.

At approximately 5:20 p.m. Berkeley Police officers served a search warrant in the 3100 block of Harper Street. The warrant stemmed from a narcotics investigation, said Officer Jennifer Coats, police spokeswoman, in response to a request from Berkeleyside. During the search, officers discovered suspected methamphetamine and suspected marijuana packaged for sales, said Coats. They also discovered suspected heroin and stolen property, she said. At the conclusion of the investigation, officers arrested David S. Hopkins, 43 years old, of Berkeley. He is no longer in custody, according to the Alameda County sheriff’s department. [Update, 7:15 p.m.: According to the Alameda County district attorney’s office, Hopkins has been charged with five felony counts: possession of heroin; possession of methamphetamine; cultivating marijuana; possession of marijuana for sale; and receiving stolen property in connection with a computer recovered by police during the search. Hopkins posted a $70,000 bond and is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing March 6.]

Wednesday, Jan. 29

An auto burglary was reported at 9 a.m. in the 2900 block of Claremont Avenue.
