More than 900 people on the eastern side of Berkeley into the Oakland hills are without power Wednesday night, according to PG&E’s outage map.

An outage affecting an estimated 673 customers began at 8:37 p.m. Power is expected to be back by 11 p.m.

Berkeleyside readers on Twitter reported the outage at 8:41 p.m. Other local residents were also sharing news.

PG&E is reportedly on scene in the area assessing the situation.

Other local residents reported losing power, but said they got it back within 10 minutes.

A separate outage in an overlapping area began just before 9 p.m. and is reportedly affecting 278 PG&E customers. It is expected to be fixed by midnight, according to PG&E.

Update, 10:06 p.m. PG&E reported that power had been restored to several hundred customers. But five outages were still cutting power to 654 customers, according to the latest PG&E update, marked 9:56 p.m.

Update, 10:20 p.m. Nearly 300 people were still without power, according to PG&E, with service expected to be restored by midnight. PG&E reported two outages in Berkeley. This information was current as of 9:54 p.m., and was the most up-to-date information available online.

10:35 p.m. Full power has been restored to Berkeley customers, according to PG&E.

Feb. 27, 12:10 a.m. PG&E spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said the power outage was “caused by a tree limb in our lines. All customers were restored by approximately 10 p.m.”
