Peter Brandt Jansen, who died Jan. 8 at the age of 92, was a 70-year Berkeley resident, a double UC Berkeley graduate, a bombardier in the Pacific Theatre during World War II — but also an anti-Vietnam war protestor — and a highway engineer with the California Department of Transportation (now CalTrans) — although also a pioneering advocate for bicycles.

Read about the colorful life of a man who, according to his family listened to too much KPFA, in our obituaries section, and share your condolences and memories in the comments section there.

Berkeleyside is always honored to publish, at no cost, obituaries of members of the Berkeley community. Please email text and photo(s) to editors@berkeleyside.com.
