An Oakland man has been charged with five felonies after a probation search led to his arrest and the recovery by Berkeley police of a loaded handgun, marijuana and two types of cocaine, all packaged for sale, according to court papers.
On April 8, the Berkeley Police Department conducted the probation search of 35-year-old Terrill Orme at his home and business in the 5600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way, less than half a mile from Berkeley’s southern border.
During the search, police said they found Orme in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun, two digital scales, packaging materials, two cellphones and substances that appeared to be marijuana and two types of cocaine — in crack and powder forms, according to court papers.
Police said there were several text messages on the cellphones that “indicate Orme is selling drugs.”
According to prior news reports, Terrill is a barber at the A-Game Cuts Barbershop in North Oakland.
Orme had two prior drug sale-related convictions, and had been sentenced to prison for both.
According to court papers, Orme has been charged with five felonies related to the gun and drugs found during the search.
Orme is scheduled for further pre-trial April 23 at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in downtown Oakland.
He remains in custody at Santa Rita Jail with a bail of $240,000.
