This is a partial list of recent crime in Berkeley, compiled by Berkeleyside, and based on reports to the Berkeley Police Department unless otherwise noted. See recent Berkeley crime coverage here.

The following items represent just a sampling of calls, and times may be approximate. From June 19-25, there were 18 burglary reports28 auto break-in or theft from a vehicle reports, and six stolen vehicle reports to the Berkeley Police Department, according to CrimeMapping.comThree robberies12 assaults, domestic violence incidents or batteries and three sexual assaults were reported. Significant incidents from the University of California Police Department included one arson, two vehicle thefts and a weapons violation. These numbers are subject to change. Thursday, June 19

Three home burglaries were reported: at 1:20 a.m. in the 1500 block of Capistrano Avenue; at 10:15 a.m. in the 1400 block of Fifth Street; and at 1:30 p.m. in the 600 block of San Fernando Avenue.

A felony sexual assault was reported at 11 p.m. in the 2100 block of Prince Street.

Friday, June 20

A 21-year-old Castro Valley man was arrested after police say he caused a hit-and-run wreck while driving under the influence just after 2:20 a.m. The accident closed Tunnel Road for hours while authorities responded and investigated the scene. The man’s passenger “sustained significant injuries” during the collision, police said. Anthony Torpey remains in custody with a bail of $290,000, and is scheduled for an attorney and plea hearing July 1 at the Wiley Manuel Courthouse in downtown Oakland, according to the Alameda County sheriff’s department.

A home burglary was reported at 12:24 p.m. in the 1600 block of Sixth Street. Police arrested Eric Campbell in connection with that incident.

The University of California Police Department responded to an arson at 5:01 p.m. at the Women’s Faculty Club.

A commercial burglary was reported at 7 p.m. in the 1600 block of Bonita Avenue.

A gun or other weapon was reported at 8:11 p.m. at Adeline and 63rd streets.

Saturday, June 21

Three vehicles were reported stolen: at 3:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of Harmon Street; at 6 a.m. at Panoramic Way and Dwight Way; and at 4 p.m. in the 2500 block of Stuart Street.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 10:50 a.m. in the 1100 block of San Pablo Avenue.

A home burglary was reported at 6:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Regent Street.

A commercial burglary was reported at 10:10 p.m. in the 2300 block of Telegraph Avenue.

Sunday, June 22

A felony sexual assault was reported at 1:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of McKinley Avenue.

A robbery was reported at 1:49 a.m. at Gilman Street and West Frontage Road.

Police responded to a sexual assault that took place just before 2 a.m. near Telegraph Avenue and Bancroft Way, just south of the UC Berkeley campus. Police asked the public for help to find the man responsible.

Three home burglaries were reported: at 2 a.m. in the 2200 block of Haste Street; at 4:13 a.m. in the 2600 block of College Avenue; and at 9 a.m. in the 2600 block of Dwight Way.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 2:13 a.m. in the 2300 block of Shattuck Avenue.

Monday, June 23

Two home burglaries were reported, at 12:01 a.m. in the 1100 block of Arch Street, and at 7:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of Ashby Avenue.

A gun or other weapon was reported at 12:09 a.m. at Ashby Avenue and Mabel Street.

Two commercial burglaries were reported, at 2:18 a.m. in the 2400 block of San Pablo Avenue, and at noon in the 2500 block of Durant Avenue.

A robbery was reported at 9:17 p.m. at Channing Way and Milvia Street.

Tuesday, June 24

A vehicle was reported stolen at 12:30 p.m. at Sixth and Camelia streets.

A gun or other weapon was reported at 5:43 p.m. in the 1500 block of Harmon Street.

A home burglary was reported at 6:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Blake Street.

A felony assault or battery was reported at 9:50 p.m. in the 2400 block of Telegraph.

A commercial burglary was reported at 10:38 p.m. in the 1200 block of Seventh Street. According to Berkeley Police spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Coats, an employee of a tow yard reported seeing two men taking property from inside a vehicle in the secured commercial yard. One of the men had previously been denied access to the vehicle because he was unable to provide identification, Coats said via email. The men later returned, jumped the fence, and stole property from the impounded vehicle. Employees chased the men, who fled on the foot. Officers responded and found the men hiding nearby. Rayan Alhassan, 22, and Turki Alhassan, 20, both of Berkeley, were arrested on suspicion of burglary. They no longer appear to be in custody, according to the Alameda County sheriff’s department.

Wednesday, June 25

Two commercial burglaries were reported, at 11:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of Milvia Street, and at 11:22 p.m. in the 1300 block of San Pablo Avenue.

The University of California Police Department said they responded to some kind of weapons violation in People’s Park at 2:42 p.m.

Two vehicles were reported stolen, at 2:50 p.m. at Russell and California streets, and at 11:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Spaulding Avenue.

Police arrested James Watson-Dixon, 28, in connection with a hit-and-run causing injury at 5:35 p.m. at Dwight Way and Hillegass Avenue.

A misdemeanor sexual assault was reported at 7:08 p.m. in the 1700 block of Berkeley Way.

A robbery was reported at 7:20 p.m. at Russell and Grant streets.

Police arrested 19-year-old Daesjhon Grayson on suspicion of second-degree robbery at 8:07 p.m., according to the Alameda County sheriff’s department. No further information was available.
