
One person in South Berkeley was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg Sunday night, according to unconfirmed police scanner recordings.
According to scanner traffic, several callers reported the sound of numerous gunshots near Sacramento Street and Alcatraz Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
A caller told police one person, with a gunshot wound to the leg, was located at a house in the 3200 block of Sacramento, between Harmon Street and Alcatraz.
Police responded to the area and paramedics took the victim to the hospital for treatment.
It was not known as of publication time whether any arrests were made in connection with Sunday night’s incident.
Update, 1:20 p.m. Berkeley Police spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Coats has confirmed that calls regarding the sound of gunshots began coming in to the dispatch center at 9:25 p.m. Sunday: “Officers were in the area and heard the reports. While conducting an area check, an officer was flagged down by a community member who reported a male victim … in the 3200 block of Sacramento Street.”
Coats said a 24-year-old Berkeley man was found with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The Berkeley Fire Department responded to the scene and took the man to a local hospital for treatment.
Coats said no arrests have been made, but that the investigation is ongoing.

Other Berkeley shootings this year
There have been at least four other shootings in Berkeley with reported victims this year, along with two drive-bys with property damage only. A map of the incidents appears below, and can be seen here.

In March, two teenagers were shot on Harmon Street east of Sacramento Street in Berkeley. There were two other drive-by shootings that month with no reported victims.
On June 7, two teenagers were shot at a West Berkeley hotel party on University Avenue. Police have reported no arrests in connection with that shooting, but the investigation is still active.
On June 11, police responded to a double shooting in South Berkeley; two men were arrested in that case, but only one of them — Anthony Durant — has been charged.
On June 26, one man was shot on San Pablo Avenue at Ashby; police have made an arrest in that case.
