Hugh Groman got his start in the food business when he burned down his parents’ kitchen making homemade potato chips, unsupervised, at age 7. He now runs two successful Berkeley-based catering companies, Hugh Groman Catering and Greenleaf Platters, throwing flawless parties both big and small for clients across the Bay Area. In 2011, he opened Phil’s Sliders in downtown Berkeley, named after his father. Groman can pull together a lavish cocktail soirée for 200, or cook a scrumptious three-course dinner for ten in his sleep. Who better, then, to offer the rest of us some practical advice to make our own entertaining less stressful and more fun?

Berkeleyside is delighted to launch “Hugh Groman’s 2-Minute Tips” video series, the first of which was created with the support of Berkeley’s Rocket Restaurant Resource. Today, Groman looks at the basic equipment to have in stock for a good party bar. Look out for more great guidance in the months to come. Visit TheHughGromanGroup.com for more information on Groman’s services.
