Alba Witkin, who moved to Berkeley in 1978, was a generous philanthropist who gave to schools, legal programs, and children’s organizations. Witkin, who had endowed a fund with her late husband, Bernard Witkin, an eminent attorney and author, died Dec. 26 at the age of 95. She was surrounded by her children as she passed.
Ever humble (despite donating millions of dollars, she never wanted her name on a building) Alba has asked that there not be a funeral or memorial service.
