Mary Berg, whose Sunday morning program “A Musical Offering,” on Berkeley’s KPFA radio, lulled generations of classical music fans into their final day of the weekend for many years, died late last year.
On Jan. 31, music-lovers will be able to pay their respects to Berg at a celebration of her life to be held at the Fellowship Hall of the Berkeley Federation for Unitarian Universalists in North Berkeley.
Along with her passion for music, Berg was an accomplished audio technician and worked in professional sound long before women commonly did so — in keeping with a long line of feminist pioneers associated with KPFA and the Pacifica Radio stations.
