WATKINS FAMILY HOUR Okay, perhaps it’s nuts for Berkeleyside to suggest the Watkins Family Hour’s two concerts at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse this weekend, since it’s sold out. But standing room is available for the hearty. The Watkins Family Hour is a “moveable musical feast” hosted by siblings Sean and Sara Watkins. On Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) Sean and Sara will play various instruments and be joined by Fiona Apple on piano, Don Heffington on drums, Sebastian Steinberg on bass, and other special guests who might hop on stage. Suffice to note that Watkins family friend Jackson Browne is playing up the road at the Greek Theatre, so who know’s what might happen. Standing room only tickets will go on sale when the music starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14 and Saturday, Aug. 15, Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, 2020 Addison St.

BANDS AT THE BROWER The Brower Center has a monthly music series with various local talents. On Friday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m., you can visit the Brower, browse the Security Question exhibition, “enjoy libations” from Tiger Lily and listen to the music of Quinn Deveaux. Deveaux’s guitar and tenor voice blend sounds from early rock ‘n’ roll and gospel into a distinctive R&B sound. Opening for Deveaux will be guest poet Tatyana Brown. Tickets are $10 from Eventbrite. Friday, Aug. 14, 7 p.m. at the Brower Center, 2150 Allston Way.

BARK AND MEOW AROUND THE BLOCK Berkeley Humane’s adopt-a-thon and street fair is on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Berkeley Humane and more than 20 other partner rescue organizations will be on hand with more than 100 animals for adoption. The goal is to find as many well-matched homes as possible to clear the shelters. In addition to the animals, there will be food, beer and wine from local restaurants, breweries and wineries, children’s games and activities, and live music and entertainment. Admission free. Berkeley Humane, Ninth and Carleton Streets.

SUNDAYS ON TELEGRAPH There are only three more chances to enjoy Sundays on Telegraph, the street fair that stretches from Dwight to Durant. This week features Dixieland jazz from Spirit of 29 with Elliott Kenin, classical guitar from Craig Perry and old-time bluegrass from Brian Godchaux and Sandy Rothman. In addition to the music, you’ll find crafts, vendors, poets, dancers and artists. Sundays on Telegraph, noon to 5 p.m.

SALSA SUNDAY Downtown Berkeley Association’s Eats, Beats & Brews block party is back on Sunday, with live salsa music from Edgardo Cambon y Candela from noon to 6 p.m. on Center Street. In addition to the music and dancing (you will dance, won’t you?), Drakes Brewing provides an outdoor beer garden, there’s delicious food and a Games of Berkeley pavilion. Eats, Beats & Brews, Sunday, Aug. 16, noon to 6 p.m.
